Owner description: Open to the public, free of charge the Wynwood Walls was established in 2009 by the legendary placemaker and visionary Tony Goldman as an outdoor museum of international street art. Since the first year's program - featuring Kenny Scharf, Futura, Os Gemeos, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, and other renowned innovators in street art, Wynwood Walls has become a phenomenon, spurring the creation of murals throughout the Wynwood district. It is now one of the best venues in the world to see the work of leading street artists. In 2010, the adjacent Wynwood Doors, with 176 feet of roll-up storefront gates was added and most recently the Wynwood Walls Garden, an open green space featuring five murals was included in the space. Each year, a selection of international artists - that range from old school graffiti artists to newer innovators- have created artwork for the Wynwood Walls. In 2012, Wynwood Walls celebrated Art Basel with a series of events dedicated to the vision of Tony Goldman who passed that September. Since that time, the project has been curated by Tony's daughter, Goldman Properties CEO Jessica Goldman Srebnick. Miami's now world renowned open air "museum of the streets" continues to attract visitors from around the world and currently encompasses more than 40 dazzling, cutting-edge murals created by respected street artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States.

Went on a walking tour arranged through History Miami. I have grown up here and love playing tourist in my home town. A hidden pocket of revitalization in an area that had seen better days. It's a gem that luckily few have discovered. If you get a chance, take the tour you will not be disappointed.

this neighborhood has some great art on all the buildings. so much to look at and appreciate. you can tell there is a lot of local talent by the different murals on the walls. we didn't get to browse the local galleries or sit at a local bar. i will definitely be back to enjoy more of what this neighborhood has to offer!

For as long as I have lived in Miami I had never come to this part of town and I'm glad I finally came on the recommendation of a friend -- Wynwood is amazing!
There are galleries all along NW 2nd Ave in Miami. I started around 29th Street and walked for several blocks. My favorite part were the actual walls. Each wall has its own theme and artist. The styles are so eclectic that you won't get bored.
There are art walks once a month and on those weekends there are food trucks available all along the street as well as the cafes and coffee shops.
The whole area has a very bohemian feel.
I would recommend to come early (around 3pm) to find parking along the street. There are places to park, but one of the ones I saw were charging $12, which in my opinion is a lot.
The neighborhood itself is not that great so I wouldn't recommend coming alone. It is better to share this amazing art with company anyway,
It is definitely an experience and would recommend it if you are visiting the Miami area or for the locals as well.

We decided we would walk to the area. It is kind of in the middle of no where and not the safest felling area. If we drove and looked at the paintings from inside the car (getting out at times of course) we would have enjoyed it a lot more.
The paintings are pretty cool. Not unique or amazing enough to recommend this too highly to other travelers though.
If you do go though - go the the SHOTS bar!
