“Dated rooms, but comfortable”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

Rooms need serious updating, but the beds are comfortable. TV provides only local cable, but not a necessity.
Service was very good, especially in the Riverwalk Cafe - very friendly hostess and service staff. The cafe features a nicely presented buffet with a different menu each day at a reasonable price. Breakfast was very good, pasta night was excellent. We ended up eating 5 out of six meals there over two days.
Nice open air pool with lots of seating.

Room Tip: Comfortable but dated decor in rooms. centrally locate, but not much to do or see at night nearby. Go...

I stayed here for a night before and after a cruise. The rooms are indeed dated per the other reviewers. The reception staff are very good. They were very pleasant and professional, and the concierge gave nice tips about dining options in the neighborhood. The gap though is in the staff out in the lobby. It wasn't clear 1. who to ask to help get a cab; 2. who's helping coordinate pick-ups for tours that guests signed up for. For cruising purpose, I have no issue with the hotel - it's about 15mins away from the terminals and about $10 in cab fare.

Upon arrival the sign says Hyatt Regency Miami. That is the only thing "Regency" about this hole in the wall. The rooms are as old as Miami sporting the same look and feel from the 1950's. Rooms are old with an open closet and toilet with the bathtub. No HD TV and door walls to the balcony have been sealed shut like in a prison.

Actually that is the feel you have here. Security is so rigid that you look around and wonder what is going on. Two steps outside to the Riverwalk and you will find out. The area is bad, very bad.

The pool is so small that you wonder why they still have it. No whirlpool. No spa. The gym is in the basement and literally you hit your head on the beam when working out on the machines. And it is tiny and outdated as well.

Food and beverage is for the area. The "nice" restaurant has a bottle of Rodney Strong as its best wine, $48 for a $12 bottle. Drinks are small and overpriced.

This is not a place for families. Here on business, you only wonder how low they gave the rooms away to get the business.

Only reason for two stars is that they actually put a decent bed in the motel room.

Even if you get your stay for free, stay somewhere else. Life is too short and Hyatt should close the place down. Their surely employees would finally be happy.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel

The staff is really good and hotel is very well located.
You can walk to Bayside, to Brickel área shops, very close to Miami Beach and Miami port.
The hotel has a good structure for all, but needs a fresh up mainly in lobby and corridors.
Rooms are ok and bathrooms are very nice.
Again, the staff all over the hotel surprises me...
Congratulations to the manager, supposes is his effort..

I recently stated at this property in a king bedroom on the 20th fl facing the Miami river. This is an extremely old and outdated property. Upon my arrival the staff was extremely pleasant and professional and offered me the river room. Upon entering the bedroom I noticed a slight mildew scent but I understood this is an older property. The view was okay but there's a lot of construction on other adjacent properties. Due to having to wake up extremely early I did not make a big deal about the smell. It wasn't until later in the night when I turn down the AC that the mildew odor became unbearable. Also you could hear all the trucks and automobiles going over the Brickell Avenue bridge during the whole night. There's absolutely no soundproof on the windows and the king size bed is hard as a rock, with old stained pillow cases. I believe this property has the potential to be an extraordinary hotel but many dollars need to be invested including – soundproofing, AC cleaning, new carpets and doors just to name a few. The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel was the staff. Upon completing an online survey venting my displeasure and extreme concerns; The hotel management offered me a complete refund for my stay. I believe if these major renovation steps would occur and Hyatt corporate would invest dollars into this hotel, it will be one of the premier properties in downtown Miami and return it to its previous glory as in the past.

This is my second time staying at this hotel and I have nothing but good things to say. Friendly staff, huge rooms, good location, and decent price for downtown Miami.

The only thing I would critique is to have a free breakfast option!

We arrived very late after a long flight. Friendly staff, check check in. Large airy room with large bathroom. Room was a little tired. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

Only issue was breakfast which was extra. The food seemed expensive and appeared to have been sitting on the hot plates for a long time.

We went on a cruise and they allowed us to book a room to store our luggage. Not something they usually do.

They could not do enough for us.
