3 star rating is generous. This used to be a nice hotel. I was 'based' in MIA.
Good: convenient location (though there are several hotels within minutes, and a shuttle from a hotel to the AA "D" concourse is probably a closer walk than from the E concourse...did I mention 'cheaper'?).
Restaurant on top/7th floor still nice - included breakfast offers 4 menu items, hot, cold cereal, fruit plate or bacon and eggs.
Not so good: carpets seedy. Construction has one bank of elevators closed, other bank has call button panel taped to wall, partially peeled off, with hand written sign and arrow pointing to it to help you find it.
Card key didn't work, back to desk for second key.
Free WiFi offered, except it doesn't work in the rooms. It does work in the Lobby, but MIA has free WiFi in the terminal anyway. (Took another return to the front desk when operator suggested she could help - got WiFi connection, but only because I was in the lobby and connected to the MIA link - to find out it does NOT work in the room).
No place to print a boarding pass. Really?
A/C on continuously. Room was freezing.Thermostat controls one vent, but not the other. Maintenance man came up (who spoke no English - conversed in Spanish) and acknowledged they had no control of the 'airport A.C vent. Solution was a piece of paper taped over the vent. The other thermostat controlled vent worked fine.
