Miami International Airport Hotel
Ranked #78 of 127 Hotels in Miami
Reviewed 14 January 2014

3 star rating is generous. This used to be a nice hotel. I was 'based' in MIA.

Good: convenient location (though there are several hotels within minutes, and a shuttle from a hotel to the AA "D" concourse is probably a closer walk than from the E concourse...did I mention 'cheaper'?).
Restaurant on top/7th floor still nice - included breakfast offers 4 menu items, hot, cold cereal, fruit plate or bacon and eggs.

Not so good: carpets seedy. Construction has one bank of elevators closed, other bank has call button panel taped to wall, partially peeled off, with hand written sign and arrow pointing to it to help you find it.
Card key didn't work, back to desk for second key.
Free WiFi offered, except it doesn't work in the rooms. It does work in the Lobby, but MIA has free WiFi in the terminal anyway. (Took another return to the front desk when operator suggested she could help - got WiFi connection, but only because I was in the lobby and connected to the MIA link - to find out it does NOT work in the room).
No place to print a boarding pass. Really?
A/C on continuously. Room was freezing.Thermostat controls one vent, but not the other. Maintenance man came up (who spoke no English - conversed in Spanish) and acknowledged they had no control of the 'airport A.C vent. Solution was a piece of paper taped over the vent. The other thermostat controlled vent worked fine.

Room Tip: I'd think about one of the other airport hotels to balance against the convenience, and consider...

This hotel is perfect for a short stay, transit stop or an emergency stay in Miami.

I stayed 3 nights, and my all around experience was good.

The hotel desperately needs a facelift. The elevators seemed quite old and the general feeling it was that I was staying in a third class hotel, not a hotel located in an important air terminal.

The only annoying thing was, the WiFi service: quite slow, and you can´t download streams from Google or Apple. You also have to update the password everyday.

Very convenient. Located right in the terminal, near concourses D and E. Rooms were tiny. Baths even smaller; could not open or close the door to the bathroom if someone was on the toilet. Soundproof, they say? Yes, pretty much, for the outside noise. Jets taking off were barely audible, would disturb only the lights of sleepers. However, and this is a big problem, the noise from the hall was bad. Door slamming, people talking, suitcases rolling down the hall, wilt all disturb your sleep. The restaurant was a high point, good food and excellent service.

Chris Reed - Maintenance was very helpful in getting the heat (you read that correctly) working in my Suite. The outside temp was a record low 44 degrees in Miami during my stay. The staff was accommodating especially given the unusually cold temperatures and their lack of experience dealing with such a temperature swing.

Room Tip: Terrible getting in and out of the hotel given its location, but the staff is very friendly and help...

If you need to rest after a long flight there's no doubt this is a place to stay. But needs an urgent updating. Rooms are not similar to internet photos. Is really sad the conditions of the hotel in view of its locations.

Full marks for access, no need to go out of the Terminal Building. After each stay we say the same thing, if it was not so convenient we would not stay at the Miami Airport Hotel. We reserved the King bed, which is past its prime. Entire place could use updating, the staff could attempt to smile. Last time we stay here.

Room Tip: In all the rooms we have stayed in never heard any airport noise.

A great place to stay with early flights out of the country. Quiet, clean,
and convenient. Felt that the price per night was inflated for the
convenience. Did not have time to enjoy food or drink establishes at this
property. Comfortable for early morning flights. Will stay again.
