Owner description: Our professional airboat guides will take you on a personalized, educational airboat tour covering approximately 9 miles of this unique environment. We first go into the vast open saw grass where you will see why the Everglades are called the "River of Grass"! You will travel by Airboat through a Hardwood Hammock (a small island of solid ground in the "river of grass"), into the Everglades National Park stopping at alligator holes and seeing the abundance of 'glades wildlife. See the Purple Gallanule voted the most colorful bird in Florida and the endangered Everglade Snail Kite as well as herons, grackles, turtles, raccoons and other Everglades residents! The Everglades are a truly unique and vibrant environment which you can only experience first hand! Unless you brought your hip waders, a private airboat tour is the best way to see it! (And much drier, too!) After this fascinating and educational airboat tour, relax and enjoy a taste of 'Down Home' cooking, Everglades-style. The Coopertown Restaurant offers such delicacies as frog legs, 'gator tail, catfish and more! All served in a friendly country manner that is distinctly "Floridian". "Belly up" to the bar and meet the folks of Coopertown! Learn some of the fascinating history of the area, and check out the guest book to see who else has passed through and enjoyed a ride on a Coopertown Airboat! Take a closer look at these fascinating creatures in our Alligator Exhibit! What a cute little guy! Popular enough to have a college mascot named for it! A ride on an airboat is the best way to Check out the rest of the gator population in Coopertown

Having always wanted to experience the Everglades we decided to do an airboat tour. With so many companies to choose from it was overwhelming sifting through all the mixed reviews of different tour operators. In the end we went with the lonely planet's recommendation of Coopertown Airboats. This turned out to be the absolutely right choice.

We opted for the private tour for the 5 of us, this was $50 per person. The group tour is $23 but covers half the ground and goes at half the speed. I would definitely recommend going for the 1 hour private tour.

Our tour guide was Robert (there are 2 Roberts at the park, but I was told that he was the older of the two). He was fantastic, so informative, but not overbearing or arrogant. He made the tour very relaxed and was more than happy to stop and point things out.

We saw around 10 alligators on the tour and some were swimming right next to our boat. The everglades are absolutely spectacular, very breathtaking and beautiful.

As part of the experience we got a presentation, where we were treated to many stories and an up close and personal with baby gators, snakes and turtles. We also got to see some rather large alligators.

If you are visiting the everglades this is the tour to choose!

We did the standard tour which was about 45 minutes and thought it was well worth the $20 (saved $3 by getting tickets on line in advance). We highly recommend you get "Mike" as your captain. He is very knowledgeable, passionate, and fun. We saw about 5 gators and the boat came right so close to one that you would have thought the gator was fake, but it wasn't. We saw numerous birds including two nests with baby birds! We also saw one turtle. At the end we all got to hold a baby gator and take pictures. I know there are a lot of air boat vendors but I can't imagine any being better than this one. We picked it after reviewing other reviews on tripadvisor and this is my first review so we obviously liked it.

Carlos performed the "show" at the beginning where he informed us on the gators, pythons, snapping turtles and more. We were able to touch them and have photos taken with them. The airboat ride was fun! We had Mike as our guide; he was funny and informative. We saw 18+ gators, momma and baby herons, turtles, etc. We had to cut our ride short, because of the season they're trying to get the water level up. At the end we were able to hold a 3 year old alligator and take pictures. I would definitely suggest this tour. Side note...I would not, however, recommend the restaurant. It is pretty filthy. The staff is friendly, but too dirty for my comfort when it comes to food service.

We want for the standard tour, which was really well priced. Massive difference between private. The captain was very knowledgable and would certainly recommend. Luckily they don't have any wrestling which is not something I am very keen about. We saw too gators in the mating ritual, which was a real bonus apparently.
For next time, I would suggest to spend a bit more money to take a private tour, or go elsewhere along the road, so you can see a 'different' part of the everglades. I guess that in the summer, most birds are gone, so ideally visit before they do.
I would recommend them
