We loved The Raleigh, the apartment is clean and opens onto a private garden. Very quiet at night and the bed is extremely comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect! 2 blocks to beach and to Lincoln Rd. The host is very responsive and friendly.
The slick website images of a brand spanking newly fitted out apartment don't really represent what you will experience - once you have got past the overwhelming strange, sickly, sweet room freshener smell that clings to everything! this is a well worn and used flat which is dark and grubby - the cooker was grotty and unclean the fridge with the split door seal and dirty shelving we didn't use as the state of it put us off. All the appliances need to be at least clean if not replaced! Throughout the property the dirty blinds hid the black encrusted mouldy window sills which were filthy! The mould continued into the bathroom around the seals the shower glass screen had also not been cleaned. As it was late and we didn't really have the option of finding somewhere else - we bought new bedlinen, blanket and pillows we also replaced the limp dirt brown towels on offer at the rental.
We did complain on arrival 5pm and the cleaner/house manager Paddy came over at 8pm that evening and cleaned for about an hour and a half (although it is really in need of a deep thorough clean for it to be up to the standard for letting) I asked if the windows would also be cleaned (Please note the owner of the flat and the other contact we had did not respond to our several emails and text messages that we sent about the property, I have now read another review which also mentions this).
The positive, the apartment is central and the bed comfortable (the people in the flat upstairs do make noises at strange times of day and night though). Air com system works, Netflix was available (although we had to ask someone to come and sort it out so we could use it as there was no set up manual) access easy enough.
