Our 6 nights stay at The Tides was really great. Beautiful and very large room with original furniture, splendid bathroom with view over the room and high quality amenities, dressing, large flat TV, fantastic view over Ocean Drive and the beach: everything was perfect. The service is very friendly and professional. The location, on the best part of Ocean Drive, is for sure one of the highlight of The Tides. Some suggestions: a pool (very well oriented to have sun until the last moment) service at least until 8pm, internet access for free, cheaper parking for guests and, more important, a very good restaurant because the hotel deserve it!!
We'll be back for our next visit at Miami Beach.

We stayed at The Tides for two nights at the end of March – something we have wanted to do for many years, since having dinner there one night on a previous trip.

With such high expectations I was worried we would be disappointed, but far from it. Staying at other hotels after The Tides is a little like flying first class on your outbound journey and then having to go economy on your return leg. We arrived early, well before check in time, with the intention of leaving our bags and heading out until the room was ready. Unlike some other hotels, it did not appear to be a problem with the staff that we were early (they still seemed delighted to see us) and fortunately we were told our room was ready.

Our room on the fourth floor was huge and had two king size beds as we had our children with us. Lovely marble floors meant no worn out (or dirty) carpet and all rooms share an ocean view. Not only is the beach just across the road (with guests having access to free sun loungers and umbrellas), but also the party atmosphere of South Beach is on the doorstep of the hotel.

However, if you want to forget the hustle and bustle, the pool at the back of the hotel is wonderfully calm. The sun reaches the pool area from around 11.30am and the pool was beautifully warmed.

The hotel was great and the staff fantastic – no request or questions was met with anything other than total professionalism (e.g. happy to check us in for our flight whilst we were at breakfast).

Even though the hotel is geared much more for couples, we took the children and they loved it. We can’t wait to go back.

Liked – Everything.
Disliked – Some may find the noise from the bars and people (especially at the weekend) slightly intrusive, but that is the joy of South Beach.

I spent a weekend at the Tides in March and must say it was the best hotel experience I had in my life. I got in early Saturday and was extremely lucky to be upgraded to one of their top suites - this place was out of this world, absolutely HUGE, two bathrooms, one of which with a large bath, dining and sitting room, plus a small balcony with two lounge chairs. The furnishings were exquisite, and is floored with marble all over.
What stands this place apart is its first class service - your room is tended to multiple times a day, and they are always prepared and willing to meet your requests. Location is on the best hot spot on Ocean Drive, and though the bar nearby is noisy, the room was quite silent at night. I never made it to the pool, as the beach just in front of the hotel was just perfect, and you get chairs and towels provided to hotel guests.
The restaurant has a small menu but the options I tried were really good. And the breakfast dishes are American size - ie, they are quite big.
The Tides puts you close to the best partying and shopping in SoBe, but offers you a calm and luxurious place to go back to when you want to rest. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to get back there sometime soon.

We stayed here for three nights and felt we got a real sense of what South Beach is all about. The staff is very nice, helpful and a true reflection of a great hotel. Yes, there is a little noise at night, but we adjusted to it. We enjoyed pre dinner cocktails outside, but we were surprised at the outrageous prices. One shot of an after dinner liquor was $15.00 plus an extra 18% mandatory tip. If they are trying to keep others out with high prices, they seem to be punishing the folks staying at the hotel. The service at both the pool and the beach was very nice. Also for what you pay, they should throw in free WIFI.

A little bit of the best of Europe in South Beach. The staff is genuinely helpful, the furnishing are high end Euro and everything is well done. The staff prints your boarding passes and returns them in a lovely little envelope. The continental breakfast is just right. The veranda is a great lace to sit, have a glass of wine and watch the SB parade.

It is an adult hotel (which during sping break can be a very good thing) and not set up to service the needs of a business traveler who needs heavy business services, etc. But if there are two of you, or two plus dog - they are so dog friendly - and you are over 21 and are looking for an exensive but high value stay, this qualifies.

We have stayed at many South Beach hotels and, without question, The Tides has some of the nicest rooms (suites) and best staff in the area.

Spacious suite with huge closet and decently sized bathroom. Immaculately cleaned and attended to during entire stay. Very large flat screen t.v. Wonderful view of the ocean. Ask for a room on the 6th through 9th floors as the usual SoBe din might be bothersome to a light sleeper.

The location is perfect for the traveller looking for a quieter hotel in the center of South Beach. Great restaurants are within walking distance or a short cab ride. Barring any long day trips, a rental car is not necessary. Parking charge is $35.00 per day if you do have a car. Shopping on Lincoln Ave and Bal Harbour is short cab ride also. Many small markets in surrounding area for typical snacks and alcohol. Full bar and fridge in each room if you prefer.

Heated pool and poolside service was great. If you prefer the beach, chairs and towels are provided on the beach across from the hotel and are complimentary to guests.

Without a doubt, the most refreshing aspect of this hotel, is the staff. They are VERY attentive. Any request you might have will be handled thoroughly and quickly.

The only negative comment I can squeeze out is that the food in the restaurant is average and the menu relatively limited. I was told by staff that the menu will be changing soon.

I got about 1/3 off for a room for four nights on Expedia, so thought I would check out the Tides this year. It was a last-minute trip I booked during the busy season, so can't complain too much, but think I will book a little further out for a better value next year.

Good points--service was impeccable, loved sitting on the front porch & watching the excitement on Ocean Drive. Central location that could not be beat for nightlife.

Bad points--the room itself was not great--leaky AC unit outside the room gave the corridor/entry way to room a very musty smell. Requested another room to no avail (though staff were very apologetic). Instead they lit a candle in the sitting area. Quite frankly, for the price I paid, I don't expect mold. Had a second-floor room which was a little noisy due to Ocean Drive nightlife, but that's to be expected. My only consolation was I can't imagine paying full price to stay here.

Next year I'll go back to Loews, or stay at the Hotel Ocean next door (the former was pricey but worth it, the latter not as expensive but still very nice). Spending big bucks for sub-par accommodations isn't my cup of tea, no matter how nice the service.
