I have always wanted to stay at the Tides hotel, I stay on Ocean Drive, South Beach each year for my holiday, we have been going there for more than 15 years now and I have always wanted to stay at the Tides since it opened, we got a great deal through ebookers so we managed to get 5 nights there for a reasonable rate, the hotel is outstanding since its makeover a while ago, gone is the clinical stark feel, in are stunning rugs, bathrooms, bedding and warmth with stunning hospitality, the "butlers" look after everything for you, a welcome drink on arrival, pool butlers around the pool, the food by the way around the pool is gorgeous, I have a bad back and unfortunately it took a bad turn for the worse whilst I was there due to the flight and the hotel could not do enough for me, all rooms face the ocean, ours was a little noisy due to the bar next door but it stopped about midnight(amazing for Miami!) on our 4th day though due to the possibility of a hurricane (it was windy but us Brits think that is just a good day for putting your washing out!) they closed all the outside facilities so we felt it wasn't worth staying and left a day early. The Tides is a stunning hotel, gorgeous Free beach facilities for guests, you will be treated like royalty! Well done The Tides, just wish I could afford to go back but we have booked the Loews instead this year as it has great renovation rates at the moment.

We stayed at the Tides from April 22 - April 27. When we arrived, check-in was a breeze & we were greeted with a smile...from EVERYONE! The lady at the front desk (I forget her name), gave us our room keys and said she would be up in 5 minutes with a welcome drink and to give us an overview of the room. We were celebrating our anniversary, which I had made note of in the "comments" section on Expedia (which is how we booked our trip). This was NOT overlooked. When we arrived in our room, there was a bottle of sparkling wine on ice and several chocolate-covered strawberries on a nicely decorating plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the top part of the plate. Not to mention, a personal hand-written card from Brianna in Guest Relations. AWESOME and very thoughtful. In exactly 5 minutes the lady from the front desk came up with our drinks (which were excellent) and gave about a 5 min tour of the room. The room is HUGE (LONG)!! The bathroom is nice sized and well equipment w/Molton Brown items. Plenty of towels were left. NOTE that you can see inside the entire bathroom from the bedroom/living room area! The toliet is obsecured by a frosted-glass panel, but only halfway. This didn't bother us as we are husband and wife, but just something to make note of. Regarding the room, it has a huge dressing/closet area for your clothes and a full-length mirror. The beverage center has FULL bottles of liquor (vodka, scotch, wiskey, etc.) I looked on the price list in the room and I believe they were around $50/bottle. You also have your standard mini-fridge which was stocked with water, soda, beer, munchies. The plasma TV on the wall is very nice and the view is amazing!!! There are several full-length mirrors throughout the room! It really doesn't matter that you aren't right on top of the water, as you might expect at other locations. There is a street, park, wide beach area, and then the water. But, it is stunning from your room!!! We did visit the pool, but only at about 7pm at night - nobody was there and we didn't swim. Just wanted to see what it looked like. The small gym upstairs is outside under a covered canopy. The view of the water is nice; however, the gym is on the rear part of the building and you must look out over the side to see the water. But, it's beautiful. They provide free VOSS water in a mini-fridge in the gym. The gym is limited to a treadmill, eliptical, 2 bikes, and free weights. The hotel is spotless! They cleaned our room twice a day. Once during the day and once before bed to replenish towels, clean out the trashcans, etc. The frontdesk staff is amazing and always greeted your whether you were coming or going. We ate outside at the restaurant for lunch one day. A little pricey, but the open-face turkey sandwich was excellent!!
We will definitely be staying here at our next visit to South Beach!!

We stayed at The Tides for 4 nights in April, beginning on Easter night and staying through to the next Thursday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a fantastic location if you want to be within walking distance of the gorgeous beach and all the excitement / activity that is South Beach. This is a great hotel for active adults who like a stylish, sophisticated spot and don't mind a little chaos right outside the front door. This would not be a good hotel for families with children or people looking for a quiet, relaxing area.

The highlights: the front patio/bar area is beautifully decorated and fantastic for people watching; the beach area right across the street is gorgeous white sand and very efficient with chairs and an umbrella complimentary for guests of the hotel; the room was simply but beautifully furnished and very stylish; the staff was extremely polite and friendly; overall a great vibe and really lovely experience at the hotel.

The not-so-great parts: food and drinks were really expensive, with mandatory gratuity added to even a simple glass of wine (we're great tippers anyway, but this seemed like overkill); while the staff is extremely friendly, they aren't necessarily on the ball with their recommendations (two staffers gave us completely different and wrong information about renting bikes nearby, and we also got conflicting information about laundry services at the hotel); pool area is lackluster up above the alley out back (but doesn't really matter because the beach is so nice); rooms are stylish but not necessarily "luxury" (e.g. bedding); the "fitness center" upstairs is little more than a couple of pieces of machinery (a bit rusty) and some weights (but had a nice view); and for the price we paid, we would expect free WiFi in our room.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Tides and would love to go back again next spring. If you like the hustle and bustle of South Beach, enjoy a European-style hotel, and don't mind the price tag - The Tides is a great getaway.

Our 6 nights stay at The Tides was really great. Beautiful and very large room with original furniture, splendid bathroom with view over the room and high quality amenities, dressing, large flat TV, fantastic view over Ocean Drive and the beach: everything was perfect. The service is very friendly and professional. The location, on the best part of Ocean Drive, is for sure one of the highlight of The Tides. Some suggestions: a pool (very well oriented to have sun until the last moment) service at least until 8pm, internet access for free, cheaper parking for guests and, more important, a very good restaurant because the hotel deserve it!!
We'll be back for our next visit at Miami Beach.

We stayed at The Tides for two nights at the end of March – something we have wanted to do for many years, since having dinner there one night on a previous trip.

With such high expectations I was worried we would be disappointed, but far from it. Staying at other hotels after The Tides is a little like flying first class on your outbound journey and then having to go economy on your return leg. We arrived early, well before check in time, with the intention of leaving our bags and heading out until the room was ready. Unlike some other hotels, it did not appear to be a problem with the staff that we were early (they still seemed delighted to see us) and fortunately we were told our room was ready.

Our room on the fourth floor was huge and had two king size beds as we had our children with us. Lovely marble floors meant no worn out (or dirty) carpet and all rooms share an ocean view. Not only is the beach just across the road (with guests having access to free sun loungers and umbrellas), but also the party atmosphere of South Beach is on the doorstep of the hotel.

However, if you want to forget the hustle and bustle, the pool at the back of the hotel is wonderfully calm. The sun reaches the pool area from around 11.30am and the pool was beautifully warmed.

The hotel was great and the staff fantastic – no request or questions was met with anything other than total professionalism (e.g. happy to check us in for our flight whilst we were at breakfast).

Even though the hotel is geared much more for couples, we took the children and they loved it. We can’t wait to go back.

Liked – Everything.
Disliked – Some may find the noise from the bars and people (especially at the weekend) slightly intrusive, but that is the joy of South Beach.

I spent a weekend at the Tides in March and must say it was the best hotel experience I had in my life. I got in early Saturday and was extremely lucky to be upgraded to one of their top suites - this place was out of this world, absolutely HUGE, two bathrooms, one of which with a large bath, dining and sitting room, plus a small balcony with two lounge chairs. The furnishings were exquisite, and is floored with marble all over.
What stands this place apart is its first class service - your room is tended to multiple times a day, and they are always prepared and willing to meet your requests. Location is on the best hot spot on Ocean Drive, and though the bar nearby is noisy, the room was quite silent at night. I never made it to the pool, as the beach just in front of the hotel was just perfect, and you get chairs and towels provided to hotel guests.
The restaurant has a small menu but the options I tried were really good. And the breakfast dishes are American size - ie, they are quite big.
The Tides puts you close to the best partying and shopping in SoBe, but offers you a calm and luxurious place to go back to when you want to rest. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to get back there sometime soon.

We stayed here for three nights and felt we got a real sense of what South Beach is all about. The staff is very nice, helpful and a true reflection of a great hotel. Yes, there is a little noise at night, but we adjusted to it. We enjoyed pre dinner cocktails outside, but we were surprised at the outrageous prices. One shot of an after dinner liquor was $15.00 plus an extra 18% mandatory tip. If they are trying to keep others out with high prices, they seem to be punishing the folks staying at the hotel. The service at both the pool and the beach was very nice. Also for what you pay, they should throw in free WIFI.
