“not sure about trip advisor rating”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

I booked the hotel from trip advisor rating and was a mistake and already knowing South Beach has many questionable hotels. My experience of south beach is you see beautiful setting and lobby - but disappointing rooms - this was no exception. The room was average, expensive during the art miami week - with small closet and nowhere to unpack or put cloths away for a long stay (the safe in the closet took up most of the closet space which was the only place available for cloths) The worse part of the stay and I was in room 102 which is against a service door that gets frequent noisy traffic and slamming doors throughout the night and the room also backs up to a disco on Washington Street which has a base vibration felt all night- even during the week. The women at the desk were wonderful but I cannot recommend this hotel or will go back.

I truly do apologize that you did not have the experience you were expecting and paid for. I am glad that you did take the time out to leave such an honest review. As you mentioned you were here during Art Basel week and we were completely sold out. Normally when space permits and you’re here for a long stay, like you were, we like to upgrade our guest. When that is not possible we have to honor the room type that was booked and yes the Standard Queen is our smallest room. I wish you had mentioned to the wonderful ladies at the front desk you were having space and noise issues, I’m sure they would have helped to the best of their abilities. There are definitely things that we could have done to make this a more pleasurable stay had we known you were having issues. Hopefully when you do come back to South Beach, you will visit with us and we can live up to our Trip Advisor rating and show you how pleasant we want all our guest to feel. From the entire team and myself, we do hope to see you again at the Impala Hotel.

We are honored that you consider the Impala Hotel your little gem. Our goal is to shine bright like a diamond on every visit you have with us. As for the parking these prices are regulated through our valet service and if we could make it less expensive we would. As you may have realized the rates are generally the same everywhere you go in South Beach. As for the things we do have control of like a very helpful and friendly staff, spacious and quiet rooms, and our location; we are glad to have pleased you on this stay and wish to leave an even better impression on your next visit to the Impala Hotel. Thank you for staying with us and taking time to leave a review.

Very nice hotel to stay at the heart of miami beach. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

Staff was very helpfull to book al kinds of trips and restaurants. Dinner at Espanola Way is only a 5 minute walk.

We also got some great driving and parking directions

Romain, inspite of the fire alarm at 4 am, you were great!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the top floor

Thank you for such a kind review! Romain will not stop apologizing for the 4a.m. wake up call (fire alarm). We are glad despite that minor incident you were able to enjoy your stay with us. We are always here and ready to assist with places to go and things to do while in Miami Beach or South Florida. We look forward to your future stay with us at the Impala Hotel.

We stumbled across the Impala and feel we found a gem ! We will always stay here now when in Miami. Small, boutique, personal and unique. Maude at the front desk was lovely and so accomodating. The location on Collins is perfect. Away from the noise of Ocean Blv yet close. The room was lovely and comfortable. The valet parking was perfect and less expensive than timed parking. All in all we loved it !!

Excellent location in the heart of South Beach. One block from Ocean drive where the party and nice restaurants are. The entrance is a bit hidden so be sure to give the exact location to your taxi driver. Our didn't have problem though. The rooms are small but we were only there at night. I liked the style decoration and the amazing mosaics in the lobby. The reception was very welcoming and always gave us a smile. Price was OK for the area (around 210 dlls). We took the 10 dlls breakfast and it was enough for us (croissants, butter, coffee, fruit and yogurt). Overall, we are very pleased to have chosen this hotel for our weekend in Miami.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet

Hotel Impala is a hidden treasure in South Beach. Easy walking distance to a lovely beach, great nightlife, shopping and restaurants. The decor is Mediteranian revival and is a little hard to find between two art deco hotels, but once you go into the restful courtyard and historic lobby you know you have found a clean, quiet and quaint hotel. Roman is great with restaurant recommendations or anything else you may need. Beach towels are provided along with a beach bag in which to carry them. I would definitely stay here again.

It is true that our hotel has an unusual architecture for the South Beach and our entrance is hidden, but we like to think it contributes to our Mediterranean charm. We are very proud of our courtyard leading to the lobby entrance, and are currently improving it by extending the garden with a deck where we will put more chairs and tables. It will be an even more attractive and inviting spot where our guests will be able to relax while having a glass of wine, sharing a meal or reading a book…
Romain is happy to read that you appreciated his help and joins me to thank you for posting this positive review on TripAdvisor. We hope to see you again.

We arrived after our long flight from the UK and checked in to a pleasant room just off from reception. The bathroom was nice and it was quiet even though being just a minute's walk from Ocean Drive.
The breakfast was not to our taste so wouldn't recommend that.
Our only problem was with Romain on reception. I had emailed in advance about an Everglades tour and was told it would be $50. When we booked he said it was $55. I queried the email I had been sent and he said because we were booking the day before he was using a different company and it was more expensive. We booked anyway but literally as we walked from the hotel to find somewhere for lunch we were stopped by a tour shop just up the road (out of the hotel turn left up Collins and it's on the left). They said the Everglades tour was $40 and they could include a bus and boat tour of Miami for an additional $30!!! This was great value and we went back to Romain to ask if we could change. A few phone calls and some rudeness from him to the people on the end of the phone sorted it all out for the $70. He tried to explain that the other shop was using an inferior company. I'm not convinced buy this, we met people on the tour who had booked vi the same shop. Moral of this story is don't be ripped off by booking direct with the hotel. Also the deposit you pay the hotel is their commission for selling it so you know what you can haggle with.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am glad to read that you enjoyed the hotel, even though the breakfast was not to your taste.
I am very sorry about the issues with the tour booking and apologize for this unpleasant experience. We indeed recommend 2 different Everglades tours, priced at respectively $50 and $55. I am certain that Romain would never try to sell something overpriced, and I can confirm that these prices are fixed by the tour companies themselves. This is what you would have paid if you had booked directly with them but it can get confusing because there are so many different intermediaries involved in the re-selling of these tickets that it makes it very hard for anyone to control and ensure rate parity. Please be assured that offering a true and honest service to our guests is more valuable to us than getting a commission! I will make sure this incident is shared with the entire team so that it doesn't happen again!
Despite this incident, I hope you left the hotel with good memories. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to have the pleasure to have you again at the Impala.
