Just returned from my second visit at the SLS. My wife and I stayed there one year ago and I reviewed it then on 4/13/13. The SLS is the only hotel that I have felt compelled to review, the reason being that this place has it all. I have stayed at a number of five star places over the years, but this place has just the right mix of ambiance and customer service. The hotel itself is spotless and has the South Beach wow factor. Perfectly situated on Collins it is within walking distance of everything. The beach is very well maintained and extremely well run. The staff on the beach are true professionals and are available but not intrusive. Ivan who took our food orders is on top of his game. From explaining the nuances of the menu to being fast in delivery, Ivan was fantastic. The staff truly is a team, there is a feeling as a guest that the focus of everyone is to make the guest feel valued. When the manager of the hotel takes the time to make sure everything is meeting your expectation level, you know as a guest that this is a special place. Ayo Akinsete the hotel manager went out of his way to make sure our stay was meeting our expectations and wanted to make our stay special. Leo DeMarsh who is the guest services manager takes immediate ownership of any request and makes it happen. When the purpose of a vacation is to relax having someone like Leo taking care of the details allowed us to really decompress and have a great time. I believe that the true measure of a quality business is consistency. The SLS was really great last year but somehow got even better this time around. I am looking forward to a return.

Our 4th trip to South Beach over the past 8 years. We've been working our way north from the Sagamore to the National to the Delano to the SLS, all adjacent to one another in the best South Beach location. We have now found our go to hotel in the SLS and will return only there in the future.
The renovation is beautiful, the rooms small but cleverly planned with great accessories and bathrooms.The large fabric wall hangings with classical themes, rather than wallpaper or paint, are a wonderful inspiration. This is Philippe Starck at play, after all. The common areas of the hotel are great for hanging out or eating-- breakfast and lunch at the patio adjacent to the hotel guests only pool were both great. Of course Jose Andres Bazaar restaurant is exquisite-- food, service and atmosphere could not be better-- a lifetime top ten. Katsuya is not quite as high on the gastronomic scale, but is very, very good and it is hopping!
At the end of the day (or the beginning, for that matter) it is always about the staff at a hotel and here the SLS shines brighter than one can imagine. Somehow, hotel management has found or inspired people who are not only very attractive, as is the case in many hotels and restaurants in SB, but unlike most other places they are also all so NICE and helpful and more interested in the guests than themselves. When you arrive 3 hours before check in time and the person at Reception (Jamie!) apologizes that the room is not ready yet (it was, 30 minutes later) you know you are entering a very special place.
Lots of little things to make one smile, too-- each day some gratis treat delivered to the room-- wine, fruit, pastries, etc. And even at the pool, each day--homemade popsicles, or watermelon and the like brought around every day.

I stayed with my family at the SLS recently, and had a wonderful experience. We have been going to South Beach for 15 years, and have stayed at all the top hotels there; so am able to provide an objective context for reviewing the SLS.

Staff are wonderful, and amenities are first class. While the rooms are on the small side, the hotel more than compensated by havig the best suite of restaurants of any of the major hotels aloing South Beach. Swimming pool area is very well done - accessable, plenty of beach chairs and kept very clean.

With a family, I had been apprehensive about the noise level as the hotel is targeting a 'younger crowd'; but we were not at all affected, and rooms are very well sound-insulated.

Can't thank the SLS and their entire staff for rolling out the red carpet for our stay. Honestly, the room (smaller but not NYC small) was great, incredible poolside experience, Katsuya and Bazaar are fantastic and the staff (Vicky, Robert, Jamie...) couldn't have been more accommodating. Our trip was a combination of work and play and we're so happy we chose the SLS for this visit. I can't think of anything I could nitpick on and the other five people in our group all felt the same. Thank you SLS!

Needing a serious break from the front lines of an arduous winter here in New England I whisked the wife away for 3 days in South Beach for a re-boot and much needed warmth. We had visited SLS on a previous trip to South Florida and were impressed with the decor and energy. We were not disappointed with the care and service from the time we landed at MIA to our departure. We are both not great breakfast buffs but we did look forward to breakfast after our workout on the beach each day we were there (2 words Spanish Toast!!).....and don't cheap out and skip going to Katsuya, we ate there the last night of our stay and it wasn't a mistake. Everything was just delightful, that coming from 2 picky foodies. Looking forward to our return.

Room Tip: SLS is a magnet for Miami nightlife so we choose a villa further away from the action at the Hyde Be...

SLS was a great place to stay for our bachelorette party! Service and amenities were great. Hyde Beach was so much, day and night! Rooms weren't large but we were still able to accommodate 4 people in a standard room. The pool party on Saturday was so much fun. The vibe of the hotel was very chic. Will definitely go back!

Positives: friendly service, creative decor, comfortable bed, large shower, great food in Bazaar restaurant.
Negatives: tiny bathroom sink and counter, $800/night for a room with a view of A/C unit in a stairwell! which made it quite noisy, over run with people not staying in hotel.
Unless your interested in doing a study of augmentation I'd skip the SLS.

In regards to the small bathrooms sink we do offer villas that have a significantly larger bathroom that I am sure would be to your liking. The weekends are very lively at SLS with all outlets being activated, with that being said our hotel guests take top priority.
