“Little gem in the middle of south beach”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The stay was wonderful. The long pool almost invites us to jump from 2nd floor balcony. The chef tasting Manu was the best we tasted among Mediterranean cuisine. As a centurion card holder for over 20 years, we have been to many places and tried many good meals around the world. This place is up there. The Art Deco to the max by Philip Starck.

Room Tip: Try the villas in the back

SLS has been one of the best hotels we've ever been to! Honestly I don't usually leave comments and stay in many hotels as I travel. But We were very impressed through out our whole stay. So I felt obligated to. From the front desk, to the hostesses, to the pool staff, and can't stress enough how much fun I had at the beach. Special thanks to the beach manager, Damian, for making our stay that much better. Quality is what you want. And we found it here.

Loved the hotel interior! Had a great time during WMC, pool party was a lot of fun. And the beach was amazing. Special thanks to Damian the Manager of the beach for being so professional and making our experience all the more memorable . He made sure we were always well fed and hydrated had enough shade and towels and even reserved a queen sized bed right by the water for the duration of our stay. We will definitely be back soon!

It's WMC week in South Beach and the SLS Hotel is one of the most happening places on earth. Our company SBS Entertainment and Mega Electronic Fest had an opportunity to host a hospitality suite at the SLS SoBe yesterday during WMC with DJ Luciano and friends spinning. Let me tell you it was the most amazing experience at a SoBe hotel ever. From the initial reservation contact to the welcome of our executive and his VIP guests, it was just smooth sailing. We booked the Villa Penthouse which was out of this world. The VPEN as they call it is very spacious, very accommodating to host a small gathering and client meetings. The wrap around balcony was great overlooking the main pool and with spectacular beach views. Last night while the party was pumping downstairs, the VPEN was quiet enough for us to have some great meetings. I want to give a special thanks to Nicole, Gabriella, and to specially Jaime for taking care of us personally from arrival to departure. You rock Jaime! I also want to thank Kyle for connecting me to the SLS. It was truly an awesome experience. Hopefully next year for WMC we can host the entire week in the VPEN. It is a must see. and the SLS is a must stay

Great hotel..a high end experience from the min you walk in. The staff will make it their business to accommodate all your requests and needs. We lucked out with a gorgeous room. Renovated and well kept. Two pools one for parties the other for lounging. They have two amazing restaurants. Just an overall amazing time.

We thought it would be interesting to try an old art deco hotel for our three night vacation trip to Miami Beach (simple deco outside, not deco inside). The best thing about the hotel was the staff - young, alert, friendly, knowledgable, helpful, not pretentious. The room and bath were very clean and the bed comfortable. HVAC worked well. Good (as far as we could tell) South Beach location. Our room was a city view superior king on the corner of the eighth floor. (One night they offered their house car to take us to a restaurant, rather than call a cab, so that was a nice free (except for tips) touch.) Nice beach and beach chairs and towels. The pools looked nice. Complimentary NY Times at the front desk each morning.

Next, take a look at the price: base rate for our room of $415/night + $30 resort fee. In other words, really $445/night, plus $44/night to park your car (unlike some hotels, you are only charged this fee if you actually have a car to park, as we did - by the way it was retrieved in about 10 minutes each time we needed it), and you're up to $489. Then add on various taxes and you're up to almost $550/night. (Add to that your own tips.)

On the minus side. Some say the rooms are small. Not true in our case. Rather, our room was "teeny, tiny," with virtually no closet/drawer storage space. (The small ceiling mirror did not make the room look bigger, though I know that was not its purpose!) We're in our early 70s and the bathroom fixtures did not pose a problem for us, but they could for some. I will not go into the details. Our first TV remote did not work, but they gave us a second one which did, more or less. The set-up appears to be more directed to selling you movies than actual TV watching. Details - only one drinking glass in the room/bathroom. More were furnished on request. Three times we had to ask for more than one wash cloth. Details!

Facilities - we ate only one breakfast (and no other meals) at the hotel. Hot tea for one for breakfast? $9. Omlets, which were sort of rubbery, around $15. Wine at the bar late one afternoon: low price is about $15 for a small glass. Having experienced those prices, and the mediocre quality, we decided not to try to eat at either of the two restaurants for dinner, and got our second and third day breakfasts at a little cafe down the street.

This is a tough place to rate overall. We knew it was pricy and that the rooms would be small. It was fun for a short-term experience, but if we went back to MB we'd try somewhere else. My sense is that the SLS company runs the hotel mainly for it's evening restaurant (seemed very busy) and nightclub business (which we did not experience) and that the hotel guests are secondary.

I am a frequent traveler to Miami for my business.
This year, we booked the SLS for the work week.
EVERYONE there was helpful and genuinely friendly.
Special shout out to Vicky at the Concierge desk.
Her attention to detail made my life a lot easier.

Just a quick caveat to first time South Beach Hotel customers..This is a Miami Landmark Boutique Hotel. Its not the Hampton in Dubuque! The rooms are very "cozy".

See you in a few months SLS!
