“Great location and overall experience”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

Just got back from a weeks stay there. The hotel goes above & beyond to accomodate what you need. We arrived early on a Sat morning and our room was ready. Pool staff was great. Loved the ice water daily at the pool, use of sunblock and the covers for the chairs so you didn't have to lay on someone's sweaty lounge chair. They even had the covers for the rented chairs on the beach. Great location to all restaurants and shops, no need for a vehicle. We took a couple of side trips and tour company picked us up right outside of the hotel on the curb. Overall great time. Only complaint was the hotel next door was under construction and they started by 7AM! A pair of earplugs worked great to drown out the noise. Rooms are small which was a general comment shared by all comments. Found we had to ask for extra towels to be left in the room to accomodate showers.

My sister and I stayed at the Surfcomber from May 6-11 2012. All of the staff we extremely friendly and helpful. Welcoming you back every evening. The room was rather small which you would expect in a boutique hotel but they were very well appointed and clean.
The pool area was spa like with lush towels, iced water available as well as magazines and sun screen. The pool was very clean and warm. The staff would come around with special treats during the afternoon...frozen grapes and mango smoothies.
It was wonderful being able to go to the lobby in the morning for their complementary coffee and tea! In the afternoon flavored water and apples were available then in the evening it was complementary wine from 6-7pm.What a great way to start your evening!
The location was perfect! A short walk to the Lincoln pedestrian mall with all the great restaurants and a short walk to all the hustle and clubs of Ocean drive.
The Surfcomber was a wonderful surprise!

The best place I have stayed on Miami Beach. Had stayed four years at this place under the Hilton name. Kimpton knocks the Hilton brand out of the water. the desk staff was the best. Had the room prepared for early arrival. The pool staff was most accommodating with any request. Renaldo's attention to detail was nothing I have experienced in any vacation hotel stays. Will return to this hotel for vacation next trip to South Beach. Close to everything, mall, beach, shops

I think you would get the best out of this hotel if you are under 40 or perhaps 30 . There is a very young atmosphere which is highlighted by the appalling loud noise that purports to be music in the lobby in the evening. Music also blares away by the pool constantly. The location is excellent on Collins with access to the beach. The staff are all very polite and good. The rooms are not up to my experience in a Kimpton hotel, our bathroom was smaller than ones that I have had on a yacht. However we enjoyed a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed with good linen. The room was also very clean. So mixed feelings.

Room Tip: Ask for a large bathroom

The Surfcomber is in a great location for walking to the shops and restaurants on Lincoln. It's also close to Ocean Drive. There is a nice pool and easy access to the beach right behind the hotel. The staff was friendly. Rooms are tiny, bathrooms are even tinier. It's very cramped in the bathroom. There is free coffee in the morning and wine from 5:00 - 6:00 in the evening (but don't be a minute late or they will refuse to serve you). We showed up at 5:59 and they would not pour any more for us, even though they still had the bottle in their hands. We had a room on the first floor and it was next to the walkway to the pool. There was music piped in 24 hours a day. It was annoying at night because it was way too loud and we could hear it perfectly through the walls. The maid service was the worst part about our stay. The bathroom was never very clean. Our towel rack broke and they just left the broken bar on the floor the whole time we were there. They did not restock our toiletries either. We ordered room service once and the food (french toast) was extremely greasy. The prices were not too high and the delivery was speedy.

We only had one night in Miami and wanted to see South Beach and the surrounds. This hotel was a little expensive, however, most in the area appeared to be.

Location for us was good and only one block from Lincoln Mall. We didn't hear any noise day or night in the room and we had an ocean view room. The room was small for average hotel rooms, but, reasonable size for the art deco district.

Parking was quite expensive ($34 per night) and only offer valet. Two days after checkout we were billed $48 when we had no expenses during our stay. All it took was one phone call to refund it back onto the credit card with no questions asked.

Spend the nights in comfort and style at the latest in the Kimpton constellation. This beachside gem is just perfect for great food, great rooms, and the nearby beaches. One simply has to walk through the pool area and the beach awaits. Spend time lazing about the beach, taking in the sites, having staff bring you drinks and food. Why leave? If you must, you can do the same by the gorgeous pool that the hotel offers. The staff are great, the service unmatched, and it is South Beach! Don't waste you time slumming, go to the Surfcomber where you will be pampered with style and panache. By the way, if you get the chance, check out their restaurant too--Lantao. It is well worth it!

Room Tip: There are a couple of rooms that have decks that overlook the pool area - they cost more but have be...
