“Great First Experience in Miami! Would Stay Again!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

First time being in Miami for most of our group! The minute we walked in we were warmly greeted, & were offered champagne. The front desk staff was very friendly and willing to help us with almost anything: jetski rentals, restaurant recommendations, club recommendations. We arrived early so the rooms were not ready, they gladly held our luggage. The pool is gorgeous & the pool staff is very accommodating, remembered us for the entire length of our stay. The drinks at the pool bar were delicious. The beach is right in your backyard. Great option to be able to choose between the pool and the beach, if you party wants to separate. Each room receives 2 complimentary beach chairs as well, extras and umbrellas are additional, at a reasonable fee. The crowd ranged from young adults, bachelor/bachelor parties, and families. The one downside to our trip was that we requested connecting rooms, or rooms next to each other, and they were not able to fulfill this request. The best they could do was place us on the same floor. This was disappointing. Both rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable! One bathroom was a little cramped as the door hit the toilet when opened, not sure why this was. The cleaning service did see to come late on some days, but if you are out by the pool all day, like we were, we didn't usually have an issue. The hotel restaurant had great breakfast, with an outside patio, perfect for the days when we just wanted to lounge by the pool. Their complimentary wine hour was enjoyed by many. We had no issue getting a cab to a local location, or to the airport thanks to the valet service. All the staff is beyond friendly. Overall great trip, and would definitely return again, or suggest to someone.

crpru27,

We are so happy to hear you had a great first experience in Miami! Is there really a better way to start off your resort stay than by a glass of champagne? Let me know if there is a different way, because we would try it! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We can't wait to welcome you back to South Beach!

1st things 1st, rooms are small. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Vinny and his helpers at the beach were awesome! Says the lady with the flask. The restaurant was good, although there are many better places to eat. Food service was a bit slow, but that was everywhere so I think being from the North we are just more fast paced.

Room Tip: I would make sure to request a room away from the lights of neighboring hotel. We closed the bathro...

From the minute we stepped into the Surfcomber, we were met with smiles and great service. From Luz, who checked us in, to Dorgis, who ensured we had our luggage on time and gave some great restaurant recommendations, this place is a MUST visit. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great time!!!

Although it didn't have much furniture, our minuscule room seemed too cute, overdecorated and too full.It faced a wall--oh well, we booked a lower priced room. Most annoyingly, we found the "very friendly" service (lots of broad smiles and indications of how helpful they were being) a facade for the inadequacies and the nickel and diming. First off, the "resort charge": this is about as far from a resort as a hotel near the beach can get, but they said it was for pool towels and internet--ok, then put it in the price (and heck, it was raining and the pool had become a sound stage..more on that). Then they automatically added 18% tip to a dinner for two at the cafe--a reasonable amount but bush league in my opinion. The "exercise facility" may have been the smallest I've been in, had two operating machines and was very dirty. Its next door bathroom was out of order, and since the room was outside this was rather inconvenient--much worse than a recent Clarion Inn we had to stay in. There were beer cans in outdoor planters. It turned out they had licensed the hotel (and were setting up) for a music festival…unbeknownst to us, so the pool deck actually had become a sound stage and there were advertising banners and scaffolding (not all erected) everywhere. Lots of workers, though...They were constructing new decking around the pool and had even locked the access to the beach in the morning. They were SO friendly that there were four bellmen who touched our bags on the way to our taxi--disappearing and reappearing, but all with their hands out for tips. The people at the desk seemed surprised at everything that was happening outside, and grinned broadly in response: "Is there anything I can do for you?" Yes, you should've offered to reduce our bill.

Recently stayed at the Surfcomber for the Easter long weekend with my wife and two teenage daughters. It is a nice and comfortable hotel. Clean rooms (on the small side)with comfortable beds and well stocked bathrooms. Free WiFi throughout the hotel. Very attentive staff. The pool area and gardens are nice, but there is not near enough room or chairs around the pool area for guests. Good beach access. The bar at the pool side is good, with, overall, good snack food and lunch items. The service by the beach can be way too slow.
I don't like the fact that they penny pinch you for everything that may be considered "extra": parking, beach umbrellas, resort fee, extra beach chair, etc.

We went on a business vacation with a group and we extended our stay for 2 more days. When we arrived the staff was friendly and gave us our room keys.we had a corner room and when we went in we found a very small room with even a smaller bathroom. There was a king size bed with a dresser and desk with only a path to walk around the bed. The bathroom was so small I had my toiletries spread every where. We had gone out the first night and when we came back I went to brush my teeth and found it in the toilet along with my lotion on the floor. Apparently someone shut a door outside our room and they fell from the small shelf in the bathroom. Needless to say we got dressed and went to Walgreens down the street and got a new toothbrush. I rearranged so it didn't happen again. My husband is average 6'1" around 200# and he just fit on the toilet. I don't know how a bigger person could sit comfortably. The sink is right against you. We went for drinks with the group by the pool and the bartender was complaining about being busy. Isn't that why he is there? Next was breakfast the next morning. It was expensive and all we had was bagel and coffee. The waiter never came back for 2 hours. We had to ask for another cup of coffee and the bill. Then we have the maid. I really believe she only changed our towels and made our bed. I had spilled some makeup the first night and it was there all week. She had left a cleaning rag so I hung it on the one door for her and it stayed there for 2 days. There was a half drank bottle of water in the fridge and we threw it out. Then when we checked out I was asked if we drank the water out of the fridge. I explained what we found and threw it out and he adjusted the bill. We had gone to the desk for information and received no help whatso ever. We were told the would have someone call us back and never did. The door men were very nice and the beach crew was fantastic! Vinnie was wonderful and made sure we were taken care of. The water was warm and clear. The hotel was too pricy for what they offered.

Room Tip: Rooms in front of building are very noisy with traffic and party places across the road that blasted...

We had an amazing time in this hotel. Everything was done with passion and precision. The room was clean, modern and quite silent . Pool and bar very nice, expeccialy the bar had a great selection. Only negative point the gym that is too small. A special mention and tranks to the staff of the beach (Vinnie, Josh , Jessica and all the others were simply Amazing! )
