This was a wonderful hotel with a great pool...just what we were looking for after a miserable Chicago winter. If you're there on Tuesday mornings make sure that you take an Art Deco tour with Chris Mehmel, Surfcomber's director of day life. Chris has a masters in hotel management from Florida International University and adores South Beach. The hotel had a wonderful (and free) Happy Hour at 5pm. This is a great place for couples and for families. We will definitely be back!

Great location on Collins. Our overnight stay was incredible...shout out to the amazing staff; Luz who recommended first class restaurants, Tina was incredible in arranging for amenities in our room (wow! Roses and champagne!), Monty our superstar valet, our friendly bell person (sorry forgot how to spell your name). Professional and efficient very impressive staff!
The room is amazing with a great balcony and incredible views!
Will definitely return to the Surfcomber...
Best regards,
Maria Alba and Thomas "Mike" Daiello

Room Tip: Room 282 is probably the best in the property! The balcony is amazing!

Yes the room was tiny but the ambiance was huge. Front desk folks were great. I had forgotten that I mentioned on the reservation that it was our anniversary. Seemed every time one of us went to the front desk they would ask how our anniversary trip was going. Very nice touch. Plus we received a bottle of sparkling wine and fruit plate with the hotel's compliments.

Pool area is very nice. Great to have the wine hour in the evening and a nice display of coffee and teas in the morning. Location is great. Prices a little high but all-in-all, we enjoyed the hotel very much.

we spend 3 nights in Miami Beach in February wanting to get a break from the long Northern winter. And the Surfcomber was a perfect choice. we were 4 ( 2 adults and 2 teenagers). The room was nice , a bit small but well organized and since the weather was perfect we didn't spend much time in it. The staff was nice and welcoming. It's a relatively small hotel compared to the big monsters nearby and that's great because when you're at the pool it's still a cosy atmosphere and you can really rest with not much noise or inconvenience.
the hotel is perfectly located with the backyard's exit directly on the boardwalk and the beach. Pretty close to Lincoln road and the shops and restaurants. A perfect getaway for a long weekend. We didn't know the Kimpton Hotels but we will definitively try an other one of the same brand since we very much liked the atmosphere.

I went down to Miami for a ladies weekend and 3 of us stayed at the Surfcomber for 4 nights. The hotel is right on Collins avenue, which is very convenient to endless restaurants and nightlife as well as walking distance to many of the larger hotels (e.g. the W). We had an amazing stay at the Surfcomber:

Service: Service, like all Kimptons, was really wonderful. There was complimentary hot and iced coffee in the lobby daily in addition to wine hour from 5-6pm every night. It was a highlight for us to grab free wine and hang out on the beach as the sun was setting.

Beach/Pool: the pool area was nice with comfortable chairs. Note on Saturdays during the high season there is a pool party with loud music and a large crowd. We were given a heads up, just note it won't be a quite afternoon. Beach access is a quick 3 minute walk. We had 2 chairs included in our rate and the service was great. Umbrellas were extra ($15) but all in all it's a really nice place to hang out by the beach.

Food: I ordered room service and beach service multiple times and was really impressed with the food. Everything was reasonably priced and the yucca fries were amazing!

Room: The room was simple with two double beds and a small bathroom. The window overlooked a wall, but I'm assuming you can pay more for a view if that's important to you. Square footage was lacking, so keep that in mind if you are traveling with loads of bags. We did have some issues with the durability of the room. For example, our curtain rod fell down unexpectedly in addition to the towel rod coming out of place multiple times. I suggest a room refresh soon.

All in all, I highly recommend the Surfcomber. It is not the luxury of the Delano or the W, but the service is wonderful and it's a great value, especially when you aren't spending a ton of time in your room. I'll be back!
