“Great time - hope to return soon”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

I stayed at Kimpton Surfcomber for four nights here in mid May. I had a great time. The front staff, including the valet to the cleaning person I met in the hallway on my way to my room were all very nice. Working with the front desk checking in was a breeze, and the room was nice. Not the biggest room, but clean and modern. I also worked with their concierge to set up some reservations for rental car, boat trip and baseball tickets, and everything was taken care off.

Great experience and I hope I’ll be back soon.

The hotel is well located on South Beach.Although the rooms are a little small (which is understandable due to the location) , they lack for nothing. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly , particularly Alex and Brad . The pool is open 24 hours which is a great thing for people wanting to use it at night.overall a great place!

This hotel is a great place to stay at. Location is great, service was excellent; Wendy on the reception was our first impression of the hotel, and she was on top, she asked us if we would like to start our stay with 2 glasses of champagne and our journey began )We had the room 239, and I think it is the best room, it overlooks the ocean and the pool, also it has a huge balcony with some armchairs and a coach. Coffee and tea was amazing on the lobby and it wasn't a cheap Lipton tea, it was The Mighty leaf tea. The wine our was great too. We ate a couple times in the restaurant inside the hotel. The food was great and the portion is pretty big. Try an octopus it was amazing. Thank you to all the staff, guys you made our stay unforgettable. We definitely will be back.
Tip: park your car 2 blocks away if you facing the hotel on your right. The price is gonna be 16$ for 24 hours.

Alex the front desk manager was very helpful and with an excellent service, the same with Car the bartender. Both créate an amazing experience on my last visit to Miami South Beach. Felicidades y Gracias!

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted warmly by reception staff. The hotel looks great, as does the pool area.

However, there were a number of things that detracted from our experience. The rooms look great - but the reality is that they are incredibly small. Even the beds appear to be shorter in length than normal. I am only about 174cm tall and my feet hung over the edge of the bed. We requested to move rooms because the room next to us had a large group staying in it and were partying non-stop day and night and were smoking weed quite openly. Unfortunately, they could not move us to another room.

The pool area looks great on the website - the only trouble was we couldn't really use it. Whilst we were there, the hotel was holding some big parties that were open to non-guests of the hotel and so there were literally hundreds of people in and around the pool who were drinking heavily.

The beach access sounds and looks good in theory. Access is run like a tight military operation and so they went out of their way to ensure that the 4 of us could only share the 2 seats (despite the fact that most of the chairs on the beach were empty). It was also funny watching the big guy run over to our chairs and struggle to pull the beach umbrella out of the sand to ensure that we werent getting any shade for free - not great service when you keep in mind that we had spent close to $2000 to stay there for 4 nights.

Also, check your bill statements carefully - lots of additional service fees were added in for food and drinks as well as resort fees (yet you couldnt use the pool!).

I am sure that this hotel would work well for a lot of people. I take partial responsibility for not researching the place well enough prior to booking. If you are young, like to drink and party heavily and like to hear and feel loud music reverberate through your bones at 4am - then this place is for you. If you are travelling with kids, then this place is not for you, as it is essentially a nightclub. The main business seems to be selling alcohol and hosting parties for the general public - not accomodation.

Great service from the moment we arrived. The room was modern, recently redone although small. They have a daily wine hour and tons of lounge space around the hotel and the pool. Staff are ready to bring you any drinks and food you want to order. They also provide chairs and towels at the beach, although you have to pay an additional $20 for an umbrella. Overall we had a great time despite cloudy weather and we would definitely stay again if we came back to Miami.

We didn't know what to expect as we journeyed to South Beach for the First time. We were old about the Surfcomer by friends and they were right on with their rec. We did join the Loyalty Club and upon our arrival we were immediately surprised. My belated Birthday gift from Kimpton was an upgrade to an Ocean front end unit with Balcony Thank toy so much . Upon arriving we had a wonderful note with a bottle of Champagne and cupcakes from the Manager. All Wonderful touches to begin our stay.
Everyone from the desk to wait staff were most accommodating . We walked south Beach for several days and discovered that we could not have picked a better location .
Not else else to say , we will be back and look forward to Northern Kimpton hotels in our travels tihis summer to NYC and Philly .
