“amazing staff”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

It was my first time visiting Miami and the staff at the Surfcomber really made me feel welcomed.Kenneth and Jenny where an amazing part of the team, they were more than happy to directed us to some of the best clubs and restaurants in Miami. Chris and Vinny were also amazing staff members who helped us out by the beach and pool and made sure we always had great seats. Over all this hotel was amazing and really made our whole trip worth it. The restaurant in the hotel was amazing and the beach was literally steps away from our room. We had our privacy but were able to get anything we needed at the same time. The staff was extremely polite and eager to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. We felt comfortable and they fulfilled our every desire. There is not one thing I could complain about, I will be visiting Miami again soon and be staying at the Surfcomber.

My wife and I stayed here first week of June 2014.

We had a King room with a courtyard view. I don't think the Ocean view rooms were worth the premium. The King room was a little small but had ample room for two people. The room itself was well laid out and clean. With the exception of the first night in which a baby was crying around 1am (it's Miami baby!), our nights were quiet and enjoyable.

The staff we encountered during our stay were all friendly. Lahtif, who works at the front of the hotel, was especially helpful and made our coming and going to the hotel each night an enjoyable experience.

The Surfcomber sits in a central area which made walking to a number of restaurants very easy.

For the price, the hotel seems to be in-line with other hotels in the area. There are some larger resorts like the Loews, etc which looked impressive but we liked the smaller Surfcomber.

The free wine happy hour was a nice touch and we took advantage of the service several days during our stay. They also offer free coffee and tea in the morning which can be brought into the onsite property for breakfast (save you a couple bucks).

The beach was a little interesting. Having to pay the resort fee for beach access and being issued chairs took some acceptance. Everything on the beach is managed from where you sit -to- issued towels by beach staff. If you want an umbrella so your skin doesn't burn off, it's an extra $19 a DAY on top of the resort fee. If you want a coke on the beach from their servers - $6. It's Miami so don't be surprised. The beach was very nice - warm water and a whole lot of bare bottoms - some pleasant, some could have benefited from a little more fabric.

Another nice feature - they have a bike stand on property which is part of Miami's bike rental program. If you pay a couple bucks, you can rent a bike - ride down the beach walk to possibly Ocean Drive - return the bike to a stand on Ocean Drive - then drink, eat, enjoy your day to the fullest - then rent another bike and try to make it back to the hotel in one piece. Fun Fun.

All in all - I don't think you go wrong with the Surfcomber if you want a central location right on the beach.

Travelore23,

Thank you for staying with us at Surfcomber! As a boutique property we have the advantage of a more personalized experience than our larger neighbors. Great to hear that Lahtif was able to do such. Your comments about the beach had me literally laughing out loud! "The beach was very nice - warm water and a whole lot of bare bottoms - some pleasant, some could have benefited from a little more fabric." - there couldn't be more truth in that statement. The people watching in South Beach is second to none! Once again, thank you for the stay and great review. We look foward to welcoming you back soon!

Just got back from Miami for a bachelorette party and have been going to South Beach for years and this was my first time staying at the Surfcomber Hotel. The hotel was clean, centrally located and an all over great experience. I never write reviews but felt that need to give a very special review to staff at this hotel. Jenn at the front desk is amazing and was such a help to me and my friends; Marcos out at the pool took care of us every day at the pool and set us up with chairs without even asking; but i have to give Rachel, the cocktail server, at the pool a FIVE STAR rating... she went ABOVE and BEYOND for me and my friends every day at the pool and we never had to ask her for anything, she knew what we were drinking without even asking after the first day there. She was so helpful and sweet and i told her i was going out of my way to write this review because of her. I would DEFINITELY stay at this hotel again

What an amazing hotel, made extra special by the staff. From the first greeting on the door from Latifh, to Kenneth and Joy on reception, to Chris Smith and Marcus by the pool and everyone beyond, the staff at this hotel are exceptional. People that really want to be your friend and you theirs. Rooms are of a good size, although bathrooms are a little on the small side, but how long would you want to spend in the room when you have such a wonderful pool area and access to the private part of the beach. The hotel is well positioned for access to the restaurants and shops of Lincoln Road and just a short walk to the madness of South Beach. Complimentary champagne on arrival and a hosted free wine hour from 5pm to 6pm each day just add to the enjoyment. Even the noisy aircon plant and roof view couldn't spoil my stay. Definitely coming back and will always now try to stay Kimpton elsewhere in the states.

Room Tip: I was in 330 overlooking the roof and aircon plant which was quite noisy. Try to get on the odd numb...

Stayed 3rd to 9th June 2014....

Room - courtyard facing (internal), nice and quiet at night, good king bed. Good sized TV, iron, plenty of hangers but no kettle that i could find (i like a brew int he morning). Broken sink in bathroom (plug would not lower) and bulb also broken, asked maid twice to get it fixed, never did despite promises of an engineer visit.

Pool/Beach - Excellent position for sun and service from the pool attendants, extra charge for umbrellas by sea available for free at other hotels.

Bar - You have to tip 19% for a bar person opening a bottle and moving it a couple of feet from fridge to glass then they have the cheek to ask for an additional tip. Rip off.

Paid in full when i booked and then they added a 'resort tax' on departure.

Very expensive for a near week stay and when i asked to check out at 2pm (2 hour extension from standard 12 check out) they said no i was not impressed.

A nice hotel but very over priced due to its position.

This is an excellent choice. Perfect location, good pool area, gorgeous beach, good restaurant and an excellent staff. They are very helpfull and friendly. The resort tax allows you to get free coffee in the morning, drink a different type os wine at five, gets towells, chairs and sunscreen on the pool and the beach.
