When we arrived at the blue moon they did not have the twin room we reserved available. Instead we were offered a king sized room, which faced the main road and was extremely noisy. The pool is tiny and the staff are not particularly competent. (apart from the concierges who were very good, but apparenlty only motivated by the prospect of a tip) The bar and the restaurant were also closed. However the hotel is in a great location, and although the rooms are tiny they are clean and well appointed.

The Hotel is in a great location on Collins Avenue within very easy walking to Ocean Drive and everything else on South Beach. The Room was ok - it was clean, quite cosy and served its purpose as somewhere to sleep and get ready to go out each day - i stayed 2 nights pre cruise. The walls were very thin though so be prepared to be woken if you are a light sleeper! No bar or restaurant to be found - pool very small and didnt get the sun much but the beach is 2 minutes away.

This hotel certainly has a great location, in the heart of Collins and only one block from the beach, but the rooms, and especially the bathrooms are tiny, and frankly the 'pool' is a joke: a large jacuzzi without bubbles would be more accurate. And yes, OK, of course there's a great big pool called the sea not far away, but sometimes you just want to chill out with a quiet drink in hand without packing up all your stuff and hauling it down to the beach; however, the pool area at the Blue Moon is so tiny that there are only 3 or 4 loungers so they are soon taken. And the staff and service vary between useless and incompetent to plain surly, depending on the day, which kinda takes the edge of your upbeat holiday mood. Oh yes, and it's pretty shabby too, which makes me wonder if some of these glowing reviews were written by people who are just really easily pleased....

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Blue Moon Hotel and we were very impressed with both the cleanliness and location. The rooms are small of course, but very cozy. The front desk did a great job of pointing us in the right direction when we asked for fun bars in the area, and the front porch is great for having a few drinks and people-watching. The only disappointment was the fact that the restaurant and bar were non-existent, but who needs them on-site when you're in South Beach anyways???

We stayed at the Blue Moon in September 2004. As it was our silver wedding anniversary, I had e-mailed them and asked for a nice room. I followed this up with a phone call, and the lady I spoke to reserved a particular room for us. We arrived late in the evening, and very tired after a full days travelling. When we checked in, the guy on reception had no details of our request, but said the room was nice. When we got in, it had a view of the air con units from one window, and the tatty canvas of the veranda over looking the pool. After complaining we were given a suite, which was noisy from the traffic, but otherwise very nice. The next day, we discovered that the bar AND restaurant were shut! Later we decided to sun bathe next to the jaccuzzi pool, which was not working and the water was dirty!
Since we have got back, they have charged us on our credit card some small amounts for which I have no idea what they are for, and in spite of assurances that they would refund the money, they have not yet. I enjoyed South Beach, but I would not stay at this hotel again, which is a shame because it could be really nice.
