We stayed on Collin's Avenue at the Eden Roc. It was a great location to other very nice hotels in the same area. Our hotel was right next to Fountain Bleu which was a very nice property. Pricey, but the restaurants in that hotel are very good. You could catch a city bus to take you anywhere from that location. We used the city Transportation a lot during our stay and it was worth it. The high end hotels are on this rd and most are one the beach side.

My trips to Miami wouldn't be complete without a day/night in South Beach. Take a tour through all the art deco hotels that will amaze you....I saw and stayed in several of them in the 60's and it's amazing how they have been revitalized. If you don't stay in one of them, at least have a drink at the bar. You never know what celebrity you will see. While you're on Collins Avenue, take a walk down Lincoln Road Mall. It's a pedestrian road filled with restaurants and shops. None are great....but if you have a meal or a drink at one of the restaurants you are sure to agree that it's the best people-watching place ever! Not too far from Collins Avenue and Lincoln Road Mall is Espanola Way. It's only 2 blocks long but has some nice restaurants that are much better than those on Lincoln Road Mall. Parking to walk around Collins Avenue can be tricky. There are several pay lots and lots of street parking....if you can find. Bring change or a credit card to use the street meters.

First, this avenue is quite long with one part (before 5th ave) quite calm and peaceful and the rest up to 12-14th st a bit more vibrant to become quiet again upper all the way to North Miami Beach.
Loved the stroll on saturdays/sundays when needing to be out. You can find great stores to shop in, great restaurants to eat, and of course bars/lounges at night. I did prefer it for the walk, the shopping and eating.
Always go there when in Miami (always make sure to stay in SoBe when visiting) and a favorite place when I used to live in South Beach.
Recommended if only for the shopping and the scenery. And in the center of SoBe. Perfect!
