Owner description: K 17 BeachSouth Beach’s Eco-Friendly Beach ClubK-17, South Beach shipping container located behind the legendary Surfcomber Hotel on 17thand Collins Avenue where beautiful locals and tourists align to chill and have a unique and relaxing beach experience. An array of crisp lime green beach umbrellas and bamboo sprawl across the sand with your choice of beach chairs or an eight-person day bed, sit and relax and enjoy specialty drinks and exquisite Mediterranean cuisine. K-17 is the perfect scenery to enjoy your choice of white sangria or mojito pitcher or taste their ironically popular “Miami Vices” (a mix between a pina colada and strawberry daiquiris.) Sink your teeth into tasty dishes like a mouth-watering watermelon ceviche, caprese salad and their popular truffle fries. Here at K-17 the unpretentious atmosphere is perfect to celebrate any special occasion from weddings to birthday parties or simply surf the net with free wi-fi or enjoy your own personal tunes by hooking up your i-pod to their sound bar.

This beach club is located behind the DoubleTree Surfcomber hotel, about a block north of Lincoln Rd. I reserved 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas ahead of time online for a Saturday at 11:30. I was able to valet park at the hotel for only $10. It is normally $25 but if you order food from the restaurant on the beach they will validate your parking stub for you.

After we checked in to the beach club they escorted us to our chairs and placed towels on them. We were informed the restaurant starts serving at 12:00 and someone would come by to take our order then. We were able to order drinks from the bar then...the Mojitos were great! They came back about 12:30 to take our order and it didn't take long at all to get our food. We all thought the food was very good. Don't expect any bargains here...remember, it is Miami Beach and you are getting beach service. We brought our own cooler with sodas and water and some snacks also. There weren't very many people there when we arrived but by 2:00 the place was full. I noticed some people trying to rent umbrellas but were told they didn't have any left. I think they should invest in more umbrellas...they should have at least one umbrella per 2 chairs available. My advice, reserve your chairs and umbrellas ahead of time or get there early to get them. Don't show up at 2:00 on a Saturday and be surprised when there are none available.

We had a great time at the beach club and will return on our next trip to Miami.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and feedback. So glad to hear that you had a great experience and will be revisiting. I am happy to inform you that we have recently received new beach equipment (umbrellas, chaise lounges and beach cabanas) so that we are able to accommodate the high demand that we have been experiencing. We look forward to seeing you on the sands of K17 Beach Club soon.

Best Regards,

Heather Read

I was very excited to go to K17. It has the foundation for an excellent idea and something that could be great if run right! Unfortunately, the service was terrible with the three people working there were in outer space. We ordered food and waited over an hour without anyone even coming by. We finally just got up and left. I was really hoping it would be a great experience and it was horible. Dont waste your time.

My friend and I went because we wanted lunch on the beach. Note for everyone: BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH. We arrived at 11:30 but we thought it was early and wanted to shop. He wrote my name down and said he would reserve 2 chairs and an umbrella for us. We came back at 1:15pm and he says Sorry ladies, there are no more umbrellas. He offered to bring lunch to us if we sat with another Umbrella company next to them. The spot was great BUT they forgot about us. We had to get someone twice to remind them that we wanted lunch. My friend complained for a 3rd time, then they found an umbrella and offered free desert so we sat back at K17's beach area. We order our food but did not know that the menu was very limited and that they order food through an unrelated hotel. When our food finally came, the hot items were cold and the fruit was warm. The only decent item was the truffle fries. My friend order honey glazed wings and they brought out plain hot wings that were not on the menu. They guy then said he will go back and place the correct order in. We picked through the rest our food and took an hour long nap and guess what? Still no honey glazed wings. We then left very upset. The location is awesome, the umbrellas are kinda small and the service is horrible because they contract through some hotels kitchen. The workers were very nice and accommodating but I rather go someplace else for lunch on the beach.

Just had one of the most amazing holidays in Miami!!!! We stayed at the DoubleTree Surfcomber Hotel and spent every afternoon at K17 Beach Club which is located right behind the hotel. Everything from the service to the food was fantastic. They have kiwi umbrellas and beautiful teak furniture. K17 is the only eco-friendly beach club in South Beach with full food and cocktail service. Pitchers of Mojitos were only $70 and great music all day. We would recommend anyone going to south beach to visit K17 Beach Club.
