I reserved a room for a conference through Orbitz. After receiving a confirmatory email, I spent time on the phone with Orbitz representatives who put me on hold to call The Hotel in-house reservations to reassure that my reservation was intact and secure. I was reassured multiple times. However, less than 3 weeks from my arrival date, I received a notice that The Hotel had overbooked reservations, similar to the way airlines do, and that my reservation was cancelled. At this point, almost all hotels were booked for the duration of the conference. While it may not cause The Hotel any inconvenience to cancel a reservation, it is not true for the client. Their action is irresponsible and rude and I would not recommend making a reservation here without fear of being bumped for no good reason and left to scramble for a place to stay. Not a good way to spend a business trip OR a vacation

We booked a cruise and decided to come in a day early and see south beach. Trying to find a hotel that was reasonable and not run down and dirty was not easy. I eventually call the front desk (not the reservation service) to The Hotel and they were able to give me a great price (compared to everything else around). When we got to The Hotel the front lobby was small but very quaint and decorated in the art deco style. The staff was right there to help us and answered any questions we had. We got to our room (which was above the front lobby of the hotel) and walked into a big area of all closets and cabinet with a vanity and 2 big mirrors. As we walked into the next area it had 2 double beds, a refrig cabinet, flat panel TV, and a large window. In the next room was a sitting area with a large curve coach (that fit in the curved area of windows), 2 small stuff stools, coffe table, refrig cabinet, flat panel TV and a desk (all done in art deco). The bathroom was long and narrow with a big tub and tie died bathrobes for you to use. We were expecting just a room with 2 beds so as you can imagine we were pleasantly surprised. The windows in the sitting room looked out over Collins Street (or shopping row as we called it). There was a few minor things that was wrong with the room. It's shower had a broken soap dish and the handle to the shower you had to really pull on it to get the shower to give you a full stream of water. The door leading into the sleeping area kept closing on its own so you had to prop something in front of it to keep it open. The carpet in the hallway looked as if it needed cleaning but the carpet in our room looked great. This is an older building with only (I think) 4 stories, so don't expect it to be like the new hotels you may be use to in other places. You may want to ask for the top floor if hearing people walk around above you bothers you.
The "Wish' restaurant we didn't eat in but I hear the food is fabulous there. The ombience looked wonderful with a garden type feel.
The Hotel had a beach service with chair and umbrella you could use. Wish we could have used them but it was 50 degrees when we were there.
Overall it was a wonderful place with great staff just needs some freshening up.

I agree with all the positive reviews, this hotel is in a great location and has wonderful, friendly staff. Right in the middle of the Art Deco district and steps away from Ocean Drive and the beach, you can't beat it. From the time we arrived the staff were welcoming and helpful, always greeting us when we returned and asking how things were going.
The room was small but did not feel cramped. The bed was comfortable although not luxurious. We had a room on the second floor and could hear people walking around in the room above so I would recommend asking for a room on the third floor.

This is a "boutique" hotel which to me means unique and fresh. While the style is unique the hotel seems to be showing its age. The lobby shows well, but the rooms, the hallways, business centre and elevator need to be refreshed. The carpets are worn in spots, some scratches and dents in the walls, dirty corners in the elevator ... small things that detract from the overall appeal. The owners of The Hotel need to step up and invest some money into freshening up the guest areas so that the rest of the hotel experience matches the service excellence of the staff (they deserve better).

It seems like the success of the hotel design was based on paying attention to the small details and it is still a good value but it could slip if the owners do not pay attention to the details again.

Clean hotel with great staff. Very professional and friendly. Handled check-in, luggage, restaurant reservations flawlessly. Room was good size and very clean. Seemed to be a little noisy during the day, but surprisingly quiet at night. Great location and their restaurant, Wish, is fantastic. They also hook you up with free wifi and free chairs and towels for the beach one block away. Paid about $250/nt for 2 weekend nights, a great value for a South Beach hotel of this quality.

Would definitely stay again.

I had a first time stay at The Hotel for a week. The staff was very friendly. Nara the front desk person gave us a great rate and was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. The staff from the concierge to the bartenders to the waiters/waitresses were all very friendly and made for a great stay. The resturant Wish is fantastic and the wine selections excellent. The pool was great with a nice bar adjacent to it. The rooms were cute, well decorated and very clean.

I recommend the salads on the lunch menu. The beach service(chairs and umbrellas) were included and a huge perk.

I would definitely come back and stay again. The location was great-close to the beach, shops, resturants and even a spa.

My boyfriend and I were here during Basel, and this boutique hotel was perfect for our off-the-grid stay. The staff, from the valet man to our waiter, was knowledgeable, extremely nice, and helpful. Our room was small, but well designed and efficient. Adorable pool, with bar and food. There's also a charming second bar on the roof which was never crowded & low key. Delicious food at Wish - the chef was a little heavy with his sauces, but overall a great dining experience. Our party had the truffle mac & cheese, seared foie gras, fish and scallops. Overall our stay at The Hotel was comfortable, relaxing and vibrant.

One night in South Beach after a flight from London and before a drive down to Key West. Location was great and the service was really very good indeed - everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Did not eat at Wish but hear it is excellent.
