A trendy, welcoming hotel in a central part of South Beach. Nice, small pool. Good size rooms and excellent service.

I booked this hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. however, I have to say I was slightly apprehensive after all the mention of thin walls and noisy rooms, but decided to stick with it. The hotel is on Collins Ave, just 30 metres back from Ocean Drive so in terms of location it is absolutely fine. It joins Ocean Drive about 2/3 of the way along so is right in the centre of lots of bars, restaurants etc.
on arrival, staff were really friendly. Our room: good points were that the bed was fantastic, huge and really comfortable. There was plenty of storage space, the air con worked really well and the bathroom was large and clean with a great shower. The bad points were that the room had no natural light (room 105) as all the four windows had frosted coating on them as we overlooked the service road between Ocean Drive and collins Ave. In terms of noise, we were not disturbed by any other guests but at 6.30am every morning we were awoken by the garbage truck as our room directly overlooked the hotel trash area and the skip was emptied every day. This was a bit of a downer! The carpet in the room also had some quite big marks on and the shower curtain was partly hanging off but other than that it was clean. Some parts of the hotel were a bit dark with strange lighting but all in all it had an ok feel. However, the rooftop pool was the jewel of this hotel, it was absolutely fantastic and like being in another world. Decent sized pool (heated too) with plenty of comfortable loungers with lovely white towels on them all around it and great view of the ocean. Food up here was great and reasonably priced, served by very trendy looking staff who were easy going. No feel of pretentiousness which we saw plenty of whilst in South Beach! Tip - get up here early to grab a good lounger, particularly on a Saturday and Sunday. The hotel gym is also up here and that was fantastic, overlooking the pool with really good equipment. Clientele was trendy but not over the top, overall a nice mix of people. We saw most of the other 'famous' SoBe hotels including the Tides, the Delano etc but were glad that we hadn't splashed out 700 or 800 dollars a night to stay there - I think The Hotel is really good value in Miami Beach.

As soon as we drove up to the hotel, we were greeted by an attendant. When I gave him our name, he already knew about our reservation and helped us settle in before we parked the car at the garage one block away. The interior of the lobby was sumptuous but not cloyingly sweet the way some of Oldham's designs can be. In fact, the decor of the whole place was a surprisingly pleasant maximalist alternative to the overdone minimalism of so many recently redesigned South Beach hotels. In addition to the aesthetics and the almost private pool, the best part about the hotel was the service. We were constantly greeted by name by hotel employees, provided with extra beach towels in case we wanted to invite friends, and made to feel very welcome for a whole day after check out before a late flight out of MIA. We were very impressed, especially for paying such a reasonable price for this part of town.

I totally lucked out finding this hotel for one night in Miami. From the moment David the doorman met my taxi with a smile and a sense of humour I knew that this was going to be a fun place to stay. I did indicate a Non Smoking room and was given a room that was obviously smoking - the hotel is supposedly going 100% Non Smoking in the next few months, However on requesting another room the front desk staff, Caleb and James, gave me the choice of 2 rooms and let me see them both,. The roof top pool and seperate Spire bar are simple and elegant, and Michael the restaurant manager could not do enough to ensure I had a great stay. Breakfast on the roof beside the pool is a must.

Free internet in the business centre open 24hours - fantastic for someone travelling without lugging a laptop.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped. But its the staff that make the place a pleasure to stay in.

The hotel is one block from the beach but on the great fashion strip and close enough to look over the waves from the roof pool.

I would highly recommend this hotel to singles or couples. Maybe not for kids as it is more for those who like a W hotel.

We stayed at The Hotel for 4 nights and were really impressed by the service! Yes the hotel is stylish and the location is great but it was the people working there who made our trip.

When checking in the guy on the desk switched our room to be away from the lift (without us asking) and was really welcoming. The lift bell is quite loud so it was good that he moved us. I'd recommend you request this.

The staff seem to have a good balance between being friendly without over the top.

We didn't eat in the hotel as it was pricey - we had breakfast in the News Cafe around the corner each morning. Eat there - you won't be disappointed!! The fruit salad is huge but a nice way to start the day. We ventured off the strip, to Espanola Way one evening - it was great. The food in Oh Mexico is devine and the Mojito's in the Mojito Lounge are the best we've ever tasted!! They come with sugar cane in them!

The hotel pool is lovely - but make sure you drag yourself away from to the pool to go to the beach and use the complimentary loungers. It's worth the walk across Ocean Drive!

Our stay in the hotel was relaxing and finished off a great holiday. I'll be staying there again!
