Stayed at the Loews for two nights post a Cozumel Cruise. Everything was wonderful!!! We were there July 3-5th and expected to experience overcrowding at the pool and beach, but that was not the case. Each time we went to the pool we were escorted to our our lounge chairs by the very friendly pool staff. They even showed a movie poolside one night. The pool is wonderfully designed and huge. 4th of July we were able to watch the fireworks from the private access to the beach. My room had a wonderful beach view.
The location is GREAT! I love to sight see and we were within walking distance to EVERYTHING south beach had to offer. The Sushi bar in the lobby was great and I was happy about being able to get my Starbucks in the am without having to leave the building.

Overall a great experience and the Loews is now one of my preferred hotels!

Just got back from South Beach. We stayed at the Loews Wed-Sun.
All staff very friendly and service oriented. Very Clean Hotel! It seemed someone was cleaning every where you looked. Yes you can definitely hear the construction. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and were awakened by it early Sunday morning ( 12:30 a.m.), but called the front desk and it ceased. The beds were extremely comfrontable! we really liked the Kuering coffee makers in the room (free by the way).
This is great place to stay and would recommend to most people.
I wouldn't recommend to people that is not into late night partying and are looking to enjoy themselves at the beach by day and sleep at night or if you have young kids with you. The noise levels in the rooms are extreme. It comes from the people in the hall, your neighbors, street noise (loud cars and motorcycles), and room doors closing. South Beach in general is a party place so you should go there expecting to see a party atmosphere.
The Loews is a first class beautiful place now and it is only going to get better after it is remodeled. The Beach is great and the service you get at the beach is awesome. Oh by the way, tops are optional on the beach.

nice hotel, superb pool area and beach. Only down side was the room, which was not up to date for a five star hotel.

Well me and 7 girlfriends stayed at the Loews for a friend's bachelorette party. We booked our rooms about 5 months prior for 2 rooms with 2 double beds. When we arrived at check-in, they told us that the only rooms available had king size beds. HELLO!! we were 7 girls, how were we all supposed to fit in 2 king size beds?!
They told us that when you book your rooms through a travel agent & not directly through the hotel, it is only a "request" not a guarantee for your bed preferance..

It turns out that the hotel was overbooked & there were absolutely no other rooms that we could have... so we had to suffer for our 3 night stay.. while 1 friend had to sleep on a chair with an ottoman, and 2 friends had to sleep on uncomfortable cots!! All the while, the hotel staff had absolutely no sympathy for us and told us "hey if you dont like it, go find another hotel"
This started off our trip with a huge & UNCOMFORTABLE disappointment!

The grounds are small, and NOT Miami like at all! Pretty crappy if you ask me..
The rooms small, keep in mind we had 1 king size bed and 1 cot in each of our rooms, which allowed us almost NO walking space at all...

The pool was WAYY too warm, and was not refreshing at all from the drop dead heat..
There are lots of chairs around the pool, but unless your waking up at 6am- your not going to get one... BUT you will get one on the disgusting grassy lawn, where everytime you get up you will get dirt and grass on your feet...

Drinks & food extremley overpriced... drinks started at $15 each, and food was mediocre...

After my trip to Miami I was able to see a few other hotels, and the Lowes is BAD... Avoid it at all costs!

We have stayed in the Loews in Philly many times, so we knew their deal and we have always liked them so we were excited to try South Beach. We went on a long weekend escape (Wed night-Sun) with friends (2 couples), we got the renovation rate, though we never saw nor heard anything. We stayed in the smaller building, so that is probably why. Room was clean, service was 5 star. Food was great, drinks were yummy. The location was perfect. Close enough to the fun of Ocean Drive and the shopping on Lincoln, but back enough from the noise. Our floor was so quiet, it was wonderful. Breakfast at Prestons each morning. It was really good. We never got the buffett, because it seemed like too much food and a little pricey (24 pp), but the bagels, muffins, omelets, fresh fruit and berries we had were wonderful. The pool was large, I can only imagine how crazy it would get in high season there, I could see potential issues over chairs, but it was not bad. We got to pool each morning at 10 and got the seats we wanted. The water with fruit which was all around the pool, was very refreshing and helped with the hot and humid weather. The pool restrooms were so clean, I was amazed, it seemed like someone was constantly in there cleaning them. Short walk to beach, it was perfect. Lunches at the pool bar were very good.
One day there was an issue at the pool with a group yelling profanities and they were pretty drunk. Given there were children around, we talked to a manager, the situation was handled immediately. We were very impressed. The staff works extremely hard to take care of you, the service was amazing. We did a couple spa treatments. Massages were nice. I have been to better spas for sure, this was pricey for what you got, but they still did a good job.
We ate at Prime 112 and Prime Italian and Nexxt Café for dinners. Enjoyed all of them. Prime 112 although extremely pricey was so worth it!! If you go to Prime Italian or Nexxt, split your meals, the portions are huge. Both Prime places had great people watching.
It was a great weekend, we loved the Loews and plan to go back as soon as we can!!
Thanks for a wonderful vacation!!!

Loews is a very nice 4 star Hotel at South Beach, just a short walk to Ocean Drive and Lincoln Mall, just a perfect location.
We booked a special “renovation” rate but did not hear anything of it.
Our side seaview room at the St. Moritz Tower was very nice and good maintained. We could not hear the neighbours next door, but at night we could sometimes hear people on the corridor, talking and banging doors.

Service is really good, at the poolside you get free of charge: sunchairs and towels, free cold water, sun protection, at certain times the staff will go around with cold towels, smoothies or ices grapes. Pool Restaurant was good and plates big enough to share. Getting a sunchair at the pool was no problem, but getting a sunchair in the shade you have to be there early.
The sunchairs and umbrellas at the beach come with a charge.

We arrived on a Saturday and the hotel was super crowded with people that spend a long weekend in Miami. But honestly – with a hotel having more than 700 rooms you cannot expect to be alone at the pool. I do not understand people complaining about that, better go to a SMALL Hotel and you don’t have that problem. During the week (Tue,Wed) the occupancy was not that high and the pool less crowded.
Most of the “weekend”-guest were people in the mid twenties to mid thirties, looking for fun and long nights at the clubs. Many looked like from a hip-hop/Rap-video, guys with big white tees and a lot of bling bling carrying bottles of champagne around, girls with a lot of make-up, 80% fake boobs, tiny bikinis and skirts in the size of belts. It was just hilarious and I really enjoyed the sight as I was in Miami to have fun and meet friends, but I would not have been amused if I wanted a quiet and relaxing place.

Coming from Europe and not used to tip everything, we just tipped the bell boy who brought our luggage and gave us good advise where to eat at party, as well we did tip our room maid on departure. We did not tip anyone else as a service charge of 18% is already included for food and beverage and we did not have the feeling that people expect to tip everytime.
