“great happy hour!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

the best happy hour at the pool bar, especially in the summer, when the sun is setting on the bay. and it's until 8pm, an hour later than other locations. the bar staff are great, as are all the servers. just bring enough cigarettes if you smoke because they charge $14/ pack otherwise.
unfortunately only doing happy hour on fridays now, because it's "season."
otherwise, the hotel is awesome and attracts the cool crowd who wants to be off the beach.

Stayed here for one night, rooms are TINY and badly layed out, no bedside tables... its beautifully decorated... More of a showroom/ design fantasy (read self indulgent) than a working hotel.

Here's just a few reasons u should never stay here

We had Smashed glass on the bathroom floor in our room.

Staff woke us up several times during the night wheeling round trollies

outdoor tub has no privacy

Seemed to be a huge amount of staff just standing round socialising rather than looking after guests...roughly 80% of the people at the hotel seemed to be staff?!? managers holding staff meetings in main areas, which I thought was really rude to the guests and showed exactly the attitude they have to paying guests. You are made to feel like an inconvenience.

When we asked to do a mud treatment the staff member asked us in a bemused tone "why y'all doing this so late?... She seemed completely surprised that we wanted to do a treatment in the late afternoon.. And let us know that we'd obviously done the 'wrong thing' ... Again typical of this hotel, your just expected to know whats the norm... If any of the staff could have been torn away from thier own socialising they might have actually suggested that times of day are appropriate for which activities.

This seems to be more of a local club than a hotel.

In bad weather , it rained heavily during our visit ( not the hotels fault of course) this place is a disaster, got soaked going back to our room, staff didn't even have umbrellas for guests.

Ordered drinks at the hotel bar that night ... The waiter had to go to the pool bar in the rain to get drinks as the bar in the lobby was closed?? And came back soaked.. This place is a complete faulty towers.

The standard is seriously over priced for what was essentially an over designed hostel. We weren't even invited to look at the spa no doubt that would have been too much hassle for everyone, this place is buried firmly in its own indulgent fantasy.

On complaining politely on our way out we were just told 'sorry to hear that' and had the full bill shoved at us... No discount.

Two good things:
breakfast
Beautiful design, amazing furniture

Dear digifunk,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. I am happy to hear you liked our design and breakfast during your time with us. I would like to apologize for the noise from the carts and employees that made your stay anything less than relaxing. I assure you this is not common on our property and are addressing all your concerns internally. We hope you will give us another chance in the near future. I assure you, your next visit will be markedly improved.

The Standard Miami is a great retreat spot outside Miami City but still close to the beaches of Miami Beach (10 minutes walk to Lincoln Road, located on Belle Isle. Very friendly and helpful staff, very relaxed and familiar atmosphere. Nice pool area with city views. Nice and cosy rooms. Midcentury atmosphere.
A nice weekend retreat for stressed New Yorkers, great place for design-oriented people. Nice spa!

Room Tip: We slept in a basement room, poolside, with a little porch in front. Event though it was on poolside...

I love the Standard. The staff is welcoming and warm (which is sometimes hard to find in miami-- since gratuity is included almost everywhere). I had a couples massage in the spa which was great-- and the poolside is perfect. It's not as busy and popping as some of the other pool parties around town, but I really like that. Also, no kids under 17-- which I also liked :)

I felt really taken care of. If you are in the mood for a spa-type of vacation-- this is your spot! The best part is, if you want to venture into the craziness and party side of south beach, you can rent a bicycle across the street from the standard for a couple dollars.

I recently spent a very greatful weekend at the Standard hotel,
with all the staff wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, you really felt like you were part of the family not just a guest.
The pool and Hamman were outstanding and the yoga teachers were really well qualified and inspiring.
A special shout out to Frank at the front desk, Renata at the gift shop and Jessie who makes delicious morning coffee,
Super clean, hip, fun and convenient location I wouldn't stay anywhere else,
Thank you Janis

Room Tip: Large Lush has a comfy futon sofa for that extra guest and an outside tub!

This place is a nice get away from the tourist rush of south beach and only a sort 10 minute walk to the main shopping area. They have a nice pool and hot tub, with a lovely eating area. The food though is quite limited, pretty much the same for lunch and dinner and a little pricey. The service is also very slow

The spa is nice and has a good set up apart form the lockers being a floor down so there is a bit of up and down in the lift to get you started

The rooms are ok, the bath outside is a nice idea but you are separated by flimsy white curtains with gaps so you have to be in your swim wear and not care about flashing your bits! But it makes for a nice change to bath outside

Room Tip: Get a room with an outside bath, unless you are a little prudish!

I did not stay at the Standard Hotel; I used the spa. I looked carefully at the spa website before scheduling an appointment, and the spa looked wonderful; their website designer did a great job. The spa treatment I received was excellent. Unfortunately, the spa did not live up to the photos on the website. The spa dressing rooms were undergoing painting which I was not told about when making the reservation. The spa facilities were clearly used for something else at one time. In the bathroom there was no place to put anything down. There was one coat of paint on loud wallpaper. The shower had a large black bug in it, and as I was dressing after the shower a male attendant asked another spa customer to please hand him all the dirty towels in the ladies dressing room! They were clearly short-handed. If you like 60's decor then this is your spa. I also was not comfortable with the co-ed spa hamam. This spa is clearly a "scene" for couples who like to be seen. I was looking forward to taking a spa bath; the tubs are located out in the open with no privacy. Tops for women are optional. Great if you're in your 20's...not so great beyond that. I will not be returning.
