We were invited to go down to visit our family on their last night of vacation in South Beach. All I had to do was find a room. Not easy with only 36 hours warning on a weekend! I needed to find something close to the Ritz where our family was staying. I found the Gale South Beach for a very nice price (in comparison to all similar hotels) and booked after reading reviews.
Our room was newly remodeled, fresh & sharp looking. King sized bed, 2 person shower & large wall mounted tv was perfect for my husband and I.
The lounge areas nice, coffee bar as you walk in. We found out our family had dined in the restaurant the night before and said it was awesome. All in all a very good 24 hour vacation.

Room Tip: Our room was randomly assigned to us. We were able to check in at noon and got a corner room. The windows only looked down the alley & across at the hotel next door. But, we weren't there for the view. It was super quiet! Never heard any hallway noise or outside noise at all (I'm a light sleeper)

This hotel is amazing. Great luxury and style, very comfortable rooms, and all around the best service on the beach. The rooftop pool is a great place to be. Excellent food at Dolce also. Definitely highly recommend this hotel to those who will appreciate the luxury of a south beach winner.

We stayed for one week in the first week of March 2014. The hotel room first assigned (despite being the first to check in and therefore having the full choice of rooms to be allocated) was a room without a window and noisy generators outside. We attempted to move rooms having been allocated this room after a day's activities however the hotel was at full capacity. In the morning we complained and the hotel manager Anamaria was extremely professional and understanding of our concerns, and she upgraded us free of charge to a room with a balcony overlooking the side of the hotel.

The hotel is small, although furnished with modern, attractive decor, giving the hotel a cosy, art-deco quality, much in keeping with the feel of the buildings in this area. The hotel is a short walk to the beach and about 10 minutes walk from the main Ocean Drive area.

The restaurant in the hotel (Dolce) serves excellent food and cocktails, although (as with most things in Miami) was a bit pricey. Of course, being in such a good location, there is no shortage of options of other eateries and bars. Having said that, we had a car which allowed us to visit restaurants in other areas which were fantastic (Lulu's in Coconut Grove / Fifi's in North Miami). Should you have a car with you, you are able to valet park which was $35 a day, with in and out privileges, however there are 2 car parks 2 blocks down Collins, which were about $16 a day (no in and outs).

The rooftop pool is very small and we didn't use it, however it's certainly a pleasant place from which to watch the world go by on the busy Collins Avenue.

Rooms are fitted with modern equipment, allowing bluetooth to the bedside alarm and an iPhone dock, and the televisions can be controlled with smartphones if you want to tease your other half without her knowledge!

On the same block is a rental shop from where you can hire segways, tandem bicycles and bicycles which gives you the options to explore the beach without walking. Segways are great fun and recommended for a quirky way to tool about and cost about $25 per person per hour.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here, and thoroughly recommend this hotel. Beware the rooms without views!

I was very pleased with this hotel!

-Really loved the decor - sort of nautical, but with a chic SOBE twist
-Excellent location, a block from the water and across the street from some amazing restaurants
-Incredibly delightful staff (concierge, front desk, restaurant, pool bar, room service - everyone!)
-Pleasantly surprised with the sound quality in the rooms: we were the closest room to the (literally raging) bar, and you barely hear a thing with the A/C going
-Pool is pristine
-Food at the restaurant was the best we had during our stay (over meals at the SLS, Bianca, and Ritz)
-Great value, lots of special touches in the rooms (love the Guy&Girl amenities and mini bar options!)
-The bar was probably my favorite thing - so old-timely, such great bartenders, and delicious drinks

What to know
-the rooms are itty bitty (as a New Yorker, this wasn't a big deal, but good to know - same goes for the double, as opposed to queen, beds)
-No privacy - I was with my boyfriend, but if not with a significant other, this would be a REALLY awkward stay with the glass shower and no room/bathroom separation
-The beach access leaves something to be desired. You have to walk a few blocks and then get put into a blend of rows and rows of beach chairs (facing parallel to the water?) with no bar service. An attendant directed me to the closest bar to get drinks (about a 3-4 minute walk off the beach) which was a disgusted dive bar (I went to use the bathroom.....I'm too much of a lady to describe what I saw) but for this price, you'd expect better beach service

Overall though, South Beach is a pricey place, and the Gale is an excellent option for discerning travelers who aren't willing to drop $700/night for a bed

Stayed here with several friends for a great spring break trip. Room was ready when we got there, and it appeared exactly as it did online (no surprises) which was great. The hotel has a great location, 5 minute (or less) walk to its beach club, very close to lincoln road, across the street from other great properties (i.e. Delano, SLS) great rooftop pool, and amazing restaurant (Dolce). The service was consistently excellent throughout the course of our stay, with special thanks to Gili who actually texted me asking if there was anything that I needed (I had never experienced this before and it was actually quite helpful). The ability to send a text and get an almost immediate reply from either the front desk or concierge was probably the highlight of the service experience (for me). Our housekeeper (Leangela) was great as well, always making sure that we had what we needed. Conquillo (bar tender at the pool bar) was also very friendly (especially after working for 10 days straight - through Ultra!). Really great staff overall, very impressed with this hotel - especially for the price.

The only two things that weren't perfect:
-Valet service is very slow (about 20 minutes to get your car)
-glass shower in our room had no door to close it off from the rest of the room (not that big of a deal, but something to be aware of).

Still an excellent experience overall. Thank you Gale!

Room Tip: I wouldn't go any smaller than the signature double (the one above the regular signature).
