Owner description: Since 1970, Art Basel's goal has been to connect the world's premier galleries and their patrons, as well serving as a meeting point for the international art world. Now, over forty years later, its three fairs - in Basel, Hong Kong and Miami Beach rank as the premier shows of their kind, presenting 20th and 21st century art with a strong curatorial perspective. In our American show, leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa show significant work from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall. Ambitious large-scale artworks, films and performances become part of the city's outdoor landscape at nearby Collins Park and SoundScape Park.

My daughter, Crystal Brewe ( age 38) her husband, Eric Brewe, and 2 daughters have lived in Miami's art District (Design District) for around 5 yrs now. She invites me for regular visits about 3-4 times a year (from Scottsdale AZ). She has introduced me to many of Miami's quaint restaurants, introduces me to James Beard award winning chefs, shown me the awesome boutique hotels, as well as takes me to the Plays and concerts at The Adrienne Arsht Center. When she invited me 3 yrs ago to Miami's Art Basel, the first week in December, it totally blew me away. This is not just some art show! This is an Art, Food, Hotel, & People, exhibit on Steroids! The best week long event & party EVER! It takes place not only in the Convention Center but it is going on all over the huge city of Miami- In the streets, in the alleys, in the residential homes, and every single hotel imaginable. Forget driving- you must wear good shoes and be able to walk walk and walk some more. You do NOT have to drag your partner with you. This is a venue you can do alone! There is so much to see and so many artists to talk with. Some of the streets are lined with restaurants and the eating tables are almost on the streets, dressed in white linen table clothes and servers galore. You can't ever be hungry here. It is planned so well and the people are nice and friendly at this event! I have made it a 'MUST DO' now, very year. See you in December 2013 folks! Look me up- I would love to see you there..

Art Basel is the largest and pre-eminent contemporary art fair in North America that takes place in Miami Beach during the first week of December each year at the miami Beach Cenvention Center, 2000 Convention Center Drive. The "fair" is so named as its origins are in Basel, Switzerland, and the fair is shown there in June of each year. Miami Beach was lucky enough to entice Art Basel to come to its shores about a decade agao, and it has gotten bigger every years, attracting hundreds of the world's best contemporary art galleries to booth space within the Convention Center. Each year, Art Basel grows with more and more satellite locations and a considerable about of public art displayed in Collins Park in front of the Bass Meuseum of Art. Art Basel has but Miami Beach on the global art map - not to be missed!
