My husband and I spent a long weekend here in April. This is a boutique hotel with a modern decor, the rooms are very much Ikea-meets-eco-warrior. They're not big, and seem a bit cluttered, given that they've tried to squeeze a bench, large table and chair in along the king-size bed, but I've experienced worse. The room seemed thoughtfully designed, with plenty of closet space, a safe large enough to fit my clunky laptop, loads of power outlets, and the coolest mini bar I've ever seen (it comes with a cocktail shaker ...). The bed is very soft, not my cup of tea, but then many people like that. The bathroom is also on the small side, and this is where my problems started: there is a window between the wall of the shower (wave!) and the bedroom. Leaving aside people who may be sharing a room without being a couple, my husband and I do like to give each other some privacy in the bathroom. I mentioned the issue to the front desk, and I will say that they reacted immediately - there was someone in our room to deal with it less than 10 minutes later. However their fix was to cover the window with a couple of hand towels and duct tape. Not so attractive (see photo). It looks as though there may have been a shade above the window at some point, but it certainly wasn't there in our room. I also ran into an issue that is a pet peeve of mine: here's an eco-friendly hotel that very much encourages you to re-use your towels. But are there enough towel racks or hooks to hang them up? Nope.
The lobby and pool areas of the hotel were really nice, and at first glance there certainly seemed to be enough lounging space. However (and our trip did coincide with spring break, maybe making the hotel busier than usual), we weren't able to secure loungers at the pool or on the beach on any of the three days we were there, because there just wasn't enough space for the size hotel. Also, they make you pay for umbrellas, both at the pool and the beach.
Maid service was somewhat spotty. On the first day, our room was never serviced. We did spend some time in it here and there, but I think there was plenty of time for service otherwise. The other two days, maid service was so late we were considering calling down to ensure the room was cleaned. On both days, they forgot to replenish the body lotion, which I then had to call for. Having said that, I really did like the toiletries. There are three large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel mounted on the wall in the shower. The shampoo and bath gel have some zing to them - there weren't any ingredients on the bottles, but I'm guessing tea tree oil.
What I did like is that this hotel doesn't nickel and dime you over every amenity like some others: there are bikes that you can rent for free, two hours at a time, internet throughout the hotel is free (although didn't work very well), and I've heard pool service provides you with water and fruit free of charge. There's a bottle of water in the room that is replenished daily.
Staff overall were friendly. We didn't try any of the onsite restaurants, but certainly had no issues with the front desk staff or concierge, though they probably could have done with some extra support that weekend, given that the hotel was obviously fully booked.
