“Fun and Very Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013

It was spare of the moment, we actually didnt mean to end up there but walking up Washington Ave and we ran into it, it was discounted for students $13.50 so we decided to take a look, and it was fun and interesting. Also open my eyes to different cultures and their sexual appetite.

“Surprisingly large collection of fascinating art.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013

The WEAM is one of the attractions you can access for free with a Go Miami card. I was surprised at how large the museum was and how diverse the collection is. Yes, the art is erotic, but for the most part it's still pretty classy. Do not take this as meaning that it's okay for children, but it's mostly all definitely still art and not just porn.

“The name says it all”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

It was an interesting and very unique museum. Truly not for children or for people who are not open minded on sexuality and it's expression.

Mostly, you could tell it was a collection of things that someone had collected. Some of it was quite fascinating...such as the Asian Art, the Adam and Eve pieces, and the piece from Clockwork Orange...the only photo op location was in the "gay" room and it wasn't something I'd take a picture of with me and my spouse. Although I am fond the what it represented, just wouldn't want that picture in my vacation album...

Some of the pieces were really quite beautiful and it was an interesting way to spend an afternoon.

“Great tour for a Bachelorette Party”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

My best friend chose this museum as the kick-off to her bachelorette weekend in Miami Beach. We decided to make it a little more fun by all dressing in corsets for the tour. If I remember correctly, the woman who owns the museum is named Naomi. This is all her personal collection that she has acquired over 20+ years. She reminded me a little bit of Dr. Ruth. Very open, very knowledgable, and no shame in her game.

We started the tour around 8:30 in the evening, and I believe we had a group rate of $12/person for admission. You cannot take photos in the museum, however, her staff does take photos of you. They especially liked our costumes and I assume our group photos are on their website or Facebook albums. The only place you can take photos in the museum is either lobby - downstairs or upstairs, and in the room with the giant male organ statue. Yes, she has a GIANT p***s statue, great for bachelorette group photos. We had a hilarious time thinking of different poses etc. I would post the photos, but "what happens in Miami on bachelorette weekend, stays in Miami!"

The art itself is interesting and ranges from Lyda and the Swan and Catherine the Great, to Ancient Egypt and Disney - and everything in between. Some pieces are originals, some are recreations of originals that she could not acquire but liked, and some are custom pieces made especially for her by various artists. There is gay art, young art, old art, Asian, Italian, you name it - Naomi has it! Some pieces are very small artifacts in cases, and the larger pieces - mostly furniture - take up entire spaces. There's even a bed with posts carved into the male organ.

Regardless of the somewhat kitschy collection, Naomi is very knowledgable about it each individual piece and commentates somewhat throughout, but leaves you to have fun in your group or with whoever for the more exciting areas.

A definite highlight of our Bachelorette Trip, and I definitely recommend for a Ladies Night out, Date Night excitement with someone special, or Bachelorette Weekend.
