From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed. The hotel has a wonderful modern, yet retro feel to it. The people were so friendly and helpful, giving us lots of information without us even asking. The rooms were clean, bright and beautiful. Many extra touches , Hollywood photo magazines in the room, complimentary stationary and business cards with our name on them showing the address of the Hotel, and even cool art deco shaped water bottles. The location was excellent, close enough to walk to the fun stuff but far enough away to avoid the Spring Breakers noise all night long. The martini's at the bar were perfect and nice to sit outside with a drink before or after going out. We had breakast poolside which was delightful.
We ate at some really excellent restaurants. Our favorite was "Barton G's." The food was great and the presentations were out of this world! I put in a few pictures in this review but it does not do it justice. I would avoid Grazie's. The food was mediocre, our service was not good, the wine selection was poor and they tryed to charge us double for wine we didn't have. We enjoyed "Tapas and Tintos" on the historic Espanola Way. Good food, nice people and good people watching.
We stayed there for three days prior to a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale for a cruise. We hated to leave!

Pro: I really loved this hotel. The location is perfect. Two blocks from the beach with all the best restaurants and shops in walking distance. There is need to even rent a car. Next time, I will just take a cab from the airport. The staff is most accommodating, super friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished. The beds are big and stable enough.

Con: The remote control for TV and audio was way too complicated and there was no light switch by the bed. But these are just minor details.

Very nice place with a good little pool. Rooms v nice and staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them to organise for us from dinner reservations to car hire. The location is fine. Ok its two blocks from the beach but its no problem to walk there and you are on the strip in no more than 2/3 minutes. The shops are one block away so as far as we were concerned it was a great location. The hotel also seems a lot better value than some of the other places where you were clearly paying to be on Miami beach.

Went to Anglers for one night after reading the reviews on this site. Great tranquil property and lovely furnishings. If I had to do this again, would not stay so far from the SoBe hub as the night before we were at the Ritz Southbeach which is better locationwise and definitely better if you have kids (I had a teen with me). But if you need quiet time, Anglers is great...but you miss out on the ocean view (it is close enough) and the pool at the Anglers was quite small. Didn't eat at the restaurant as there was no one there but there are many choices in the vicinity when it comes to shopping and restaurants so that was indeed a plus. The room was really very nice....

Reading through the reviews here, I can't believe we visited the same hotel. Many of the rooms are not finished and if your idea of a view is being able to see into rooms opposite at a distance of 10 feet, then this is the place for you.

We were moved to three rooms and we were supposed to stay two nights - we only stayed the one night because they wouldn't let us out of our reservation.

For the money, you can do MUCH better - the Mondrian for example.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but just because a place has an iPod docking station (the AV system in the 3rd room we were moved to didn't work) and a few glossy design magazines on the tables does not make it a boutique hotel!

Our list of complaints is so long it's boring, but here are a few of the lowlights:

1) We were "upgraded" to a room right next to the Pool Machine Room - I guess the constant hum from the pool pump combined with zero view was considered a improvement on the "Unique 2 story villa on the top 2 floors of the 5 story tower building" we had booked but which initially wasn't available due to "issues".

2) We insisted on the room we booked and as they say, "be careful what you wish for": the shower (in room number two that we tried) was either cryogenic or 3rd degree burns (this was the reason we moved to room number 3).

3) Common to all rooms the "feature" spiral staircases that connect the two levels of the duplex rooms are appallingly finished (room number two that we tried had a nut missing from the structural connection) and are so small that there is no chance you will get your suitcase up to your bedroom - so plan on schlepping up and down between the bathroom and your suitcase and the bedroom and your suitcase, oh and did I mention that the stair treads have no non-slip material? You wouldn't be allowed to build a stair like this is a new hotel in the UK, clearly America is the land of opportunity!

4) The view from our "Unique 2 story villa on the top 2 floors of the 5 story tower building" was deeply disappointing - we had hoped for the Miami skyline, instead we got an unfinished roof terrace (points go to the Assistant Manager for being suitably embarrased about this) with views of the Air Con units of the adjacent building - how romantic.

In summary, the place has been shoddily finished and is totally over-hyped. If we had been US citizens instead of on vacation, we would have sued for misrepresentation, but I guess at least we will take comfort from knowing that hopefully we will have managed to give a bit of balance to what is clearly a very one-sided representation on this site.

I've stayed in a few places in Miami when I've been on holiday before, but The Angler's is a cut above, both in terms of the quality of the accommodation, the resort, food and service.

The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful (going so far as to help me out with an enquiry completely unrelated to the hotel 4 weeks after I stayed there), and as a result the resort has a friendly, yet trendy feel. Internet access is available via wireless or a free terminal at reception.

The resort also has a very nice sun patio with pool, great cocktails and breakfasts. The apartments are also top quality, with living room, bedroom and a (perhaps slightly too complex) sound system throughout with iPod dock. We also had access to the roof of the building which had some fantastic views.

An incredible place which I'll be coming back to.
