We recently stayed here and it was a good and basic hotel. The Lobby is nice and staff were very friendly. The pool area is small and a bit tired looking. Our room was basic, nice and clean. We had a side facing room with a window which looked out to the complex to the side but we still had a glimpse of the beach. There were lots of families and lots of kids running and playing here. This hotel did have a family feel, which is great. This is not one of the glamourous hotels of Miami Beach but basic and well priced. Since I was traveling with my husband only we will probably choose another hotel next time.

If you're looking for a clean, quiet hotel, slightly off the beaten path, this may be the place. It's located directly on the ocean, about 5 miles north of South Beach and a short drive (about 20 minutes) north to Hollywood Beach. The area is mostly hotels (Fountainbleu, Eden Roc) and there is not much to do other than sit by the pool or go down to the ocean. Although the hotel is technically oceanfront, you do have to cross a 10' wide wooden boardwalk to get to the beach. The boardwalk stretches from a few blocks north of the hotel almost all the way to South Beach. While we were there (May 12-19) the ocean water was very comfortable and the beach was not crowded. The only nearby restaurants are in the local hotels. There is a small market about 3 blocks south on Collins Ave.
As for the hotel, the rooms were well stocked with toiletries and towels and most had at least a partial ocean view. The only minor complaint I had about the room is the low water pressure in the shower. Free wi-fi is available throughout the hotel and there are computers available in the lobby at a cost of .25 per minute.
The pool was decent sized, clean and well maintained. We never had trouble finding chairs under an umbrella, although I usually got to the pool around 8AM. The grounds were very nice, with a few hammocks to relax in. There is a Tiki Hut serving snacks and drinks from about 11AM til 5PM. There is a small lounge (8 bar stools, 5 small tables) off to one corner of the lobby that's open from 4-11PM. During the week we stayed there was never any live entertainment.
The hotel has one restaurant, The Paradise Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, although I found the dinner menu to be limited. We ate breakfast there every day but drove to either South Beach or the nearby (20 minutes) Aventura Mall for dinner.
I don't know if I'm spoiled from staying at all-inclusives but I found the hotel to be rather high priced on food and drinks. The breakfast buffet was $18. each and dinner was close to $25.
A hamburger and fries at the Tiki Hut was $12 and a 12 oz. can of domestic beer was $5. All these prices include tax and an automatic 15% tip that the hotel adds. In addition, if you have a car, the daily parking and valet fee is $31. not including tip. The only other parking available is in the public garage across the street but the daily fee there is $25. and there are no in and out privileges.
Our family of 4 adults spent a quiet, relaxing week at this hotel and I would definitely recommend it if that is what you're looking for.

Many have given this hotel bad reviews, but for what you paid it is fair. You can't expect rooms to be FountainBleu like when you are paying a 1/4 of the cost. The hotel provided all of the basic needs one wants when staying in a hotel. My expectations were realistic. Lobby was inviting. Conference room was accomadating. We had clean room, shower and enough space for 3 women with a lot of clothes and shoes. The beach and pool were very convenient. I don't know if paying extra for ocean front was necessary and they keep the rooms extremely cold, but these things were not deal breakers. The staff was very nice and accomadating. They didn't always have the answers about restaurants, buses, etc., but they did their best to find out. That is the sugggestion I have for the hotel is that they get a person who is well versed in the area and can assist out-of-towners. Even someone who knows about the nightlife would be good, as that is what Miami is about. If on a budget in the future, I would return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't have to spend extra on Ocean Front, rooms don't walk out to the ocean.

Stayed here on a girls weekend. The room was clean and spacious enough for 4. Room had small windows that were bolted shut. Why would a hotel on the water have no balcony or at least big windows! Pool area is tired and small. Pictures on site do not look like what it really looks like. We still had fun and enjoyed the spot. Hotel is right on the beach.

If you are looking for a decent location and low frills option it works. Otherwise check out the Marriott or Hilton.

A little tip about south beach especially at bars and restaurants, servers include the tip automatically. They must make a fortune on people who don't pay attention and tip on top of that.

I figured I would give this hotel another try. We stayed here in Sept. 2011 before heading on a cruise. This time it was my daughter and myself for a little R & R. We were greeted by very welcoming hotel staff both at the valet and the front desk. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. We had a room on the 9th floor that over looked the ocean. A corner room that was fantastic! Any window we looked out, we could see the beach and pool! My daughter loved this. Funny thing is we had the same exact room as we did in Sept. The room seemed nice and the bed was comfy. The only complaint with the room was the bathroom. I called the front desk numerous times to fix the tub that wouldn't drain and it seemed to not be an issue, as it didn't get fixed. As Platinum Priority Club members, we received a free bar drink every day. That was great! I wouldn't get a mojito. They were nasty and seemed to be made with a premix, with muddled mint and rum added. At breakfast, the staff remembers seemed to hate their job. I think this may be a reoccurring theme at all Holiday Inn restaurants. The dinner staff was excellent. Maybe because we were the only ones there but that's fine. The beach access is right there. There aren't any lounge chairs unless you want to rent them from one of the beach vendors. I believe they were $10+ depending if you wanted added shade. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again (we used points and would only do so).

Room Tip: Ask for high floor with a view of the ocean!

The decor and bathroom needed a little updating but the staff at check in check out were excellent and the room was clean.

The location is convenient, on the beach and with easy access to South Beach.
