For $80 a night, thats the perfect spot to crash, clean, quite, nice bedroom, comes with fridge and microwave and free wi-fi, right in front of the beach and you can take all the ice you want from the ice machine. I give it a 4 stars because the elevator's certification was expired since a few months ago.

What a total disappointment. While it is in a prime location (directly on A1A, in the mix of all the surly activity you can only find in SoBe and across from the beach) it is not the gem it claims to be in pictures. The hotel sits in front of a restaurant, so you must take all of your luggage through crowds of people eating at tables & tourists walking down the street. There is no bellhop, and there is also no parking. It is valet only and it is $22 a day! You also must inform the valet about 30 minutes ahead of time when you want your car- so don't plan on leaving at the drop of the hat. There is a "bar" once you enter the door next to the"registration desk" where you might have the pleasure of being greeted with a smile that has a cigarette smoking out of it. Yes- indoor smoking- what freaking year is this?
There is NO possible way you can check in until 2 pm, so plan for that. We did have lunch and a cocktail while we waited, and that was out front of the hotel at the Starlite cafe. While the food was ok, apparently they went to the Caspian sea to get the shrimp & calamari we ordered. The service was pretty good, but you have to learn to tune out the waiters & waitresses who are forced into shouting at & shoving postcards about the restaurant specials at those passing by. It's like a non stop auction.
Once inside this motel; Yes I have already downgraded it, we ride the elevator to the 2nd floor. That trip only took 7 minutes. Then arriving at our room, I open the (broken) blinds to look into another building with barred windows. I sit on the bed and the term "snap, crackle, and pop" is redefined. The bed was horrible- most uncomfy thing I have ever slept on. The only thing remotely nice about the room was their attempt and renovating the bathroom- it's the best spot to be. We went out that evening to explore South Beach and thankfully were leaving the next day. We needed ice in the morning, but there was none in the ONE ice maker they had. The smoking gal (and I don't mean hot, I mean puffing like the dragon) behind the front desk while checking her facebook page finally looked up long enough to suggest walking a few blocks to buy some. Wow, thanks. Anyway- If you plan on drinking alot, going to the beach or not being in your room for anything other than sleeping on a bed that sounds like a popcorn factory every time you move, like long elevator rides, aren't in a hurry, advocate indoor smoking and don't need ice - this my friends is YOUR place. Good Luck!

PERFECT LOCATION! Steps away from a great part of the beach and a looonnng line of restaurants on either side. Every time we came back to the hotel from the beach the bartender would ALWAYS offer us free shots! The night security Joe, was super sweet - after a night of late clubbing we wanted pizza and he personally walked my 2 other friends to the pizzeria to make sure they were safe! Room was small (but keep in mind we were 4 girls staying in there), but we seriously only slept, showered and changed in there. Walls are super super thin - we heard everything and I'm SURE others heard us. Dumpster gets emptied early morning and the walls shake, but if you are passed out after a day of beach and drinks you won't even notice. Elevator is the slowest one on earth, but we found the stairs were just fine to walk up (we stayed on the stop floor) The only negative was that the cleaning lady broke my friend's mirror and no note was left from the hotel. I'm sure it was an accident though...Other than that - it's a basic hotel and a good price good for just passing out and taking showers :o)

Great value for the price and wonderful location. We were in a room with an adjoining room, 215/214. The first night we were there, Thursday, was quiet, but on Friday and for that weekend they were full. We had some very noisy partiers next to us, very, very loud, probably inebriated. We called to front desk and they were very responsive and got them to go out, but when they cam back at 1 am, were very loud again. Front desk interceded again and got them to quiet down. Sheets are very thin and beds and bedding not so comfortable, but it was very clean and fine for a place to sleep. When not the weekend and hotel not booked, very quiet. Front desk and manager were very nice. Free in-room internet was great.

I travel to Miami 1-2 times a year strictly to Party, Drink, and Dine!! Me and my girl friends came out to MIA for NYE-1/4/11. Our ages are 22-24. We first found Starlite in a search for reasonable priced hotels for the holiday season. We found an excellent rate on expedia which was 277 per person for the entire stay. Starlite was a great find. Our flight came in b4 the check in time and the lady behind the desk let us check in early. She was sooo friendly and sweet (all the staff was). The rooms look like the pictures on the website it's a very basic hotel. Perfect for friends who jus want to party and only need a place to rest and shower. Location=Amazing. It's adjacent to Wet Willies and other great party spots with plenty of drink/lunch specials. Check out news cafe, planet sushi, and davids cafe they have great food at reasonable prices. In a nutshell this hotel is great for young adults looking for a great time in Miami. If your looking for luxury go to Royal Palms farther down ocean.

A little overpriced for what it was, but being there over new years likely had something to do with it. Generally clean, tidy and functional. Location is superb and they have developed the outside restaurant / bar area nicely. Good spot for friends to use as a base, not so sure I'd take my partner.

We stayed here In October post cruise for one night. I booked it because of its location. We stayed on a Sunday night. The room was clean, I checked for bed bugs and found no indication of their presence. The beds were a bit hard. We did not hear our neighbors, but could hear their tv's when we were in the hallway. No problem there. There was a small refridge and microwave in the room. The woman at the front desk in the morning, until 2 pm, really needs to brush up on her people skills. Not very professional at all. If my room hadn't already been paid for and I wasn't so wiped out from the cruise, I would have looked for another hotel. BUT the woman who had relieved her at 2 pm was very nice. A smile on her face all the time and she always acknowledged you when coming and going. I paid $77 thru Hotel.com and it was a fair price. If the owners would pour a little more money into this place, they could really charge a lot more. They were replacing some mattresses on the day we were leaving. Hopefully they were of better quality as far as being more comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
