Heard about Mt Dora for some time so decided to come up for the weekend. Overall impression of the town? Touristy & Kitschy. Expected unusual designer type stores - all very predictable and boring merchandise one can see in any tourist town. It was recommended we go to Pisces Rising. We sat outside on a Sunday afternoon - ordered La Te Dah - a signature dish of seasoned broth with two shrimp and two scallops. Sounded delicious and it was - but frankly they could have put 3 shrimp and 3 scallops in the dish and it would have been filling. Another note - it doesnt come with any bread. We inquired and found out you had to order a basket of bread. Sort of silly as this dish screams for bread with the broth.
We sat outside upstairs on a Sunday evening. There was a guy playing guitar who seemed more interested in calling out to a woman on the lower level to wish her a happy birthday and get her to come sing with him than he was with the rest of his audience. As it was, he wasnt that good, but if he played a few more than 3 songs it might have made the afternoon experience a bit nicer.
I noticed this restaurant has many accolades and awards. We only had the La Te Da meal so cannot comment more other than - serve some bread with the dish or have the waiter tell the customers to order bread basket.
