The pier was great people watching. Tourists were from all over the world and the locals there fishing were definitely part of the atmosphere.
We saw lots of pelicans fishing (and trying to take the fish from the fishermens' hooks) and a dolphin jumping all around the pier.
We parked in the paid lot straight east of the pier, but there was street parking a little farther away too.
This was a quick side trip for us. The pier and the beach were pretty crowded. It was worth the trip though, since we were in the area having lunch on Fifth Ave. anyways.
