Pro: good location, ample parking, easy to find, right off a major highway. Affordable price by comparison. Reasonable breakfast.

Cons: LOW water pressure in the shower. Older place, needs some work. Mismatched furniture. Holes in the bed linen. Remote control did not even work. Musty smell in bathroom.

If you're liking for a cheap place to shower and sleep, this is it. No frills.

Remember, a lower rate does not a higher rating make.

We were in the area on a photo shoot and picked this place based on the location and price. TA reviews also play a part in the decision. It worked fine for us and I would rate this Motel a 2 ½ star (holding steady) if I had the option. Here’s what we like about the place:

• Good price. We paid $49 on line. I noticed they advertise a higher price across the counter so it pays to book via the web. We saved about $10. It’s not worth $60 per night. In fact, I feel $49 was a little high ($40 would be more like it).
• Good location relative to the Glades which is where we were shooting.
• Staff friendly
• Room was clean
• Included a refrigerator and microwave. Both looked almost new and worked fine
• Shower was hot (see note about the contraption and towels below)
• Free Wi-Fi with 5 bar signal (very good)
• I felt the bed was comfortable but my partner was bugged by the noisy box springs.
• AC seemed to work fine although this was November so who knows what it’s like in August.
• The “Breakfast” opened at 8:00 am. We leave early so I can’t comment. Same with the pool. We didn’t utilize so I have no comment (at least they have a pool so it’s all good)

Now the odd stuff:

• They give you the TV remote along with the key when you register. I have no idea who would want to steal one of these things as they are old, original and taped up. Maybe they steal to sell to antique TV Museums.
• The TV was new when the Olympics were in Atlanta. Same with the remote. No premium channels, just the 26 basic channels. It worked fine for us.
• It appeared that at least one family was living in the Motel in the room next to ours complete with at least 3 kids. I guess a sign of the times. They were very nice and gave us absolutely no problems
• The room is decorated with a collection of assorted furniture from who knows’ where. None of it matched but it was serviceable
• The bed had a canopy which made us feel that we were back out on the Amazon in the rainforest (see earlier review); all it needed was a mosquito net. Weird.
• I forgot to take a picture of this as I’ve never seen anything like it: The tile in the shower, that looks like it was installed in the 60’s, runs up to about 5’ or so (very low). The shower head is set low relative to the tile so the nozzle hits you square in the chest. The weird part is the gate valve that is built in to the goose neck of the shower head. The dual valves (H & C) on the wall are preset and open. To operate the shower, you turn the gate valve on the shower head. It’s quite a contraption but it works.
• Be sure to bring extra towels as you get one bath and one face towel. You could use another.
• The windows are the old Jalousie type. These are becoming rare in Florida due to efficiency and wind loads. May be one of the last chances to check one out.

The place is fine. Enjoy.

If you are looking for a clean, friendly and reasonably priced motel on your trip then try this out. Don't be put off by the the roadside location as rooms are well positioned at the back. We were travelling to the Keys and stopped here en route. Although is was a little dated, we were pleasantly surprised with the clean and comfy room we had (spotless) and that we also had breakfast incuded - we wern't aware of this til we checked in. The breakfast room was very clean with an ample supply of breakfast goods (toast, cereals, fruit, juice and coffee) to keep us going. The staff were extremely helpful, providing so much help and advice on best places to visit in the local area. Would definately stay here again.

We chose this hotel because it was cheap and close to Everglades. The room was very old fashioned and not the cleanest room ever. The hotel is located right next to the highway, but we didn't really noticed the noise of the road which was fine. The hosts are friendly but their breakfast was deficient to our taste. Free parking and Wi-FI. If you are going to Everglades city this hotel has a good location but it will only satisfy backpackers or tight budget travellers.

Motel's site is "photo enhanced". Don't look for coffee or anything else before 8am - no one is there and we couldn't wait so we walked across the street for some coffee. At 7:45, the owner opened the front door to the office and we told him that we were looking for the "breakfast"...he said, sorry we don't open until 8. Others staying at the motel got into their cars and left in disgust after falling for the CHEAP RATE and booking here. The room appeared clean but bed furnishings were old, out dated and very used (and mismatched). Bed was just adequate; pillows old and flat. BTW, when checking in the owner had to give you the remote for the TV...haven't ever had that happen! Low class clientel that take it?? Mini bars of soap at the sink, one of which was empty and the other all flat and broken. The shower water was either HOT or COLD, but did not do WARM. Pool area, pool and lounge chairs looked gross - and the pool was very small. Over all by advice would be to skip the CHEAP rates and this place because you will not get a restful sleep (wondering why you fell for it on the internet, all those "glamorous" photos). By the time we paid and had to find breakfast on our own we could have paid the $129.00 somewhere nicer!
