Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Nestled on five acres of native Florida landscaping, our flagship museum at the County Government center in Naples offers newly created exhibits and galleries that capture the full panorama of local history. Pack a picnic and linger a while in the museum's shady backyard. Then do a little exploring on your own in our native gardens, restored Naples cottages, the archaeology lab, Seminole village or Calusa Indian camp. Enlarged twice, the museum's main gallery offers over 10,000 square feet of new displays, plus a traveling exhibit room, lecture hall, and gift shop.

“Quaint museum for local flavor”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Collier County Museum is located in the Naples court/municipal complex just south of downtown on 41, with plenty of parking. The Museum features an extensive exhibit on local Florida history from prehistoric times to Native American tribelands through to the World Wars and motion pictures. Outside the main builidng, the "backyard" hosts a collection of attractions, which kids especially may enjoying seeing: a tank, a boat, a steam engine, a gazebo and a period cottage from the early 20th century. The museum complex is not large and doesn't take very long to see, but with free admission, it's certainly worth an hour or so. Don't expect too much and you will be pleasantly surprised.

“A museum for the family”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

Bring the family and picnic on the grounds. This is a trip where one can enjoy both indoors as well as the beautiful outdoor environment with so much to explore. This museum is hidden on the grounds of The Collier County government site, enter from either collier blvd or Airport-Pulling and follow the signs for the Museum. There are several rooms of fabulous displays depicting the history of the area from Indian clad models to Spanish explorers to modern day adventurers. Do not miss the outdoor exhibits along the well maintained trails. There is an Indian village, a fort, a railroad hauling car, a restored passenger boat, an army tank, a gazebo, gardens and picnic areas. Be sure to visit the extension to view the art displays. A wonderful trip for anyone and especially for children.

“A Local's Perspective”

Small museum within the courthouse compound - interesting but shouldn't take more than an hour or two, maybe less, depending on whether you read every little thing.

“Small but lots of FL history”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

Right when we walked in there were two volunteers to greet us and answer any questions we may have. They offered assistance on where things were located. We went here to view the Clyde Butcher photo exhibit of Cuba. The exhibit was small but very informative and of course had beautiful photographs taken by him. The exhibits change regularly so make sure you check out what is being featured at the time you visit. We also decided to just peek at the rest of the museum. We enjoyed the Florida history room just as you walked in to the right. Lots of neat artifacts and information. We explored the outside a little bit but were short on time so did not see all there was to offer. This would be a fun place to take people to learn about Collier County and FL history. Best of all it was all FREE!
