Lovely hotel we have enjoyed many times, however this time we experienced a few problems. There were in residence many ( at least 30-50 )workers from foreign countries who were working locally. Although they were not at the hotel during the day, they came in by carfuls after work and proceeded to smoke, litter with beer cans, and loiter in the public areas, not to mention that it was impossible to get a free washer and dryer. We observed that non hotel guests were using the pool and washers, The noise around the pool and common areas on weekends lasted until 3:30am!! We would definetely go back to this hotel because of its location and hospitality providing that this problem was taking care of. Also, the rates seemed to be higher than they should be giving the clientele.

Stayed (for 3rd time) from 25 October for 5 nites. This time as a 3rd choice, after concerns from other reviewers.

Tried the Bellasera first.. it may get great reviews, but we looked in and found it gloomy and cramped... and couldn't see how the pool would catch the sun for more than a few hours a day.

Next was the Inn at Pelican Bay. Nice room, but small again... and so was the pool area.

Tried a couple more and came to the conclusion that none of them was better than how I remembered the Residence Inn, so we went there and took a spacious 1 bedroom suite... and at $120 plus tax (GBP £63) per nite, it was far cheaper than anything else we looked at.

The place has been re-painted/re-carpeted throughout and though it still looks like every other Marriott, it was obvious that the manager had been true to his word about the renovation.

Breakfasts were fine, as were the afternoon snacks... intended for businessmen, but great for tourists coming back from a day at the beaches & malls... and the Wednesday barbecue, with wine & beer on tap, was very popular.

When we opted for a rest from the beach & malls, the pool area was very quiet, with lots of beds & towels to hand.

By the way, Res. Inn is on the US41, but Lowdermilk Park with it's beach access and good parking/changing facilities is still only 4 mins drive... likewise the Coastland mall.

Service was great, we had one small problem, fixed in 10mins... another said his dishwasher wasn't working one evening; they replaced it while he went for breakfast next morning.

This isn't a 'romantic' hotel with attendants at your beck & call and a beach-sunset, but if you're looking for a quiet place to stay, good service, plenty of room to move about and overall great value, it can't be beaten.

Next year, I won't be looking around for alternatives.

Pros: Good location within a mile to nearest beach, shops, restaurants, etc
Great staff--very accomodating
More than adequate social hour and breakfast

Cons: Housekeeping is not great--especially vacuuming--we had to move the sofa to retrive something and it was clear a vacuum never, ever was used.

King size beds are not available in this hotel

Bathroom tubs are not clean looking

All common areas are run down especially pool area--chaise lounges are disgusting!

Carpeting in rooms and hallways are stained and smell

Furniture is stained-We had to cover everything with towels

Pet owners do not clean up after pets as far as we could see and the hotel has no signs posted urging owners to do so

We have been told that they are going to do some updating--I would not use this hotel again until I made sure of it.

The hotel staff appreciates your feedback. The hotel is currently going through a complete renovation of rooms, restaurant and lobby which should be completed by the end of the summer.

We have stayed at the Residence for a number of years. Yes the staff are friendly and the breakfasts above average. That said the Hotel is rapidly losing its gloss. The Hotel is in urgent need of remodelling, the rooms and corridors looking tired, and the decoration looking poor. Our biggest complaint is the bedrooms. The beds are only Queen size and although they are the replacement beds they are not comfortable. When you do get to sleep there is no danger of oversleeping as the AC comes on/off at least every two hours, sounding like a car minus its silencer. I would concur with another recent resident that this problem although acceptable possibly for a very short stay is a big negative when on a prolonged vacation and you value your sleep. The prices this year have rocketed and one gets the feeling that current prices ( we paid on average $199 per night ) do not offer value for money. In conclusion, great staff, great location, pity about the furnishings and very noisy AC.

We just stayed for eight nights at the Residence Inn in Naples. Surprised to receive no welcome at all at check-in ( normally the Marriott chain are very welcoming and helpful), more so because they were not busy. Air conditioning in rooms a nightmare, it works well but is louder than a 747 at take-off and because main fan is in the bedroom it wakes one up every two hours during the night. Suites are nice and comfortable and cleaning quality is excellent, although dishwasher was somewhat problematical. No room safes which we found surprising for a Marriott. Pool nice but very small. Breakfasts, evening refreshments and cook-outs all perfectly acceptable. Situation handy for beach and shops but you are right on US 41. Pricing is acceptable for quality of accomodation. Interesting to see from other reviewers how they compare the Residence to the other "Suite" brands in and around Naples. We would return but would probably go for a condo or apartment rental in Naples next time.
