“Great location, but mediocre hotel”
Reviewed 19 March 2011

The location of this hotel was great - close to the beach/pier, shopping etc. Room was very clean, top marks to the cleaning staff who were very pleasant and friendly. What lets this hotel down was the service and on more than one occasion, lack of sleep.

The aircon unit in the room was very noisy. We opted to switch it off at night time and open the balcony door to let some air in - the fountains in the swimming pool were left on at nighttime and were pretty loud, but bearable.

We stayed here over St. Patricks day - great fun in Naples, but unfortunately this was the sole focus of the hotel pre- and post- Paddy's Day, and the fact that it was a hotel first and foremost, rather than just an Irish pub, seemed to be forgotten. There was no room service on Paddy's Day, or the day after. I heard a few guests in passing complaining about this. Likewise the guy at the reception desk didn't seem too bothered about guests on the phone, his answer was "mmm hmmm. Well there's no room service today as the restaurant is being cleaned up. You can go to Starbucks.", and a prompt hanging up of the phone followed. Unfortunately I wasn't too well during my stay in Florida, so the room service would have been great. In the middle of the night on Paddy's Day, the hotel staff were putting back the umbrellas in the pool area, and definately weren't quiet about it - lots of shouting and moving around of furniture. I think they forgot they were in a courtyard surrounded by hotel rooms.

Given the price we paid I would have expected more from this hotel - little things like nowhere to park the car in front of the hotel on arrival (we drove around 5th a few times before finding space to pull in, much to the delight of the sat nav!) the valet nowhere to be found, no towels left down at the pool, TV and water availability on the blink (not their fault and these things happen, but communication could have been much better) and staff that in general didn't focus on guests requirements and good service all left a bit to be desired. If the price had been cheaper I wouldn't have minded, but for the price we paid, I expected more.

My husband and I just returned from a three night stay at The Inn on Fifth. The location is perfect, can walk everywhere. The rooms are very dated and dimly lit. The bathroom does not have a makeup mirror. We tried to order coffee in the morning but....no room service on Mondays, or anytime after 9:00pm.
If you stay here do not expect anything other than a semi clean place to stay and a great location with very little amenities.

My husband and I recently spent 4 days in Naples, FL. We opted not to stay on the beach and had a wonderful stay at the Inn on Fifth. The pool area was gorgeous. We could walk out our sliding door straight to the pool/patio. I was a little concerned that it be noisy since it was right downtown....but it was VERY quiet. The staff was great. the only suggestions we would make is softer towels......they were scratchy. And the business center left alot to be desired. The computer had a virus and we couldn't get our boarding passes printed.

the location is great!!!! i can't really comment on any of the amenities of the hotel because i was in the everglades and doing the typical tourist thing when there. the room itself was very nice and clean with a big king sized bed and a big shower for 2:)
the price was a bit much for the room but i guess you're paying for the location which to repeat was fabulous. downtown Naples is very clean and the restaurants are thankfully different from the typical amercian style chains.
attached was a great little Irish bar that was always busy and served good food. one weird thing...... they had a room service menu for breakfast but didn't have a restaurant to go and eat the breakfast in....we had to walk down the street a block or so.
in Naples, be prepared to spend allot of money! but overall, i love it.

The location of this hotel just can't be beat in Naples. The nightlife on 5th is great for the traveler who isn't looking for a wild party experience. Probably because the average tourist in the area is older, the action on the street seems to die down after 11. The restaurants, mostly open to the street, are generally good. (You might want to avoid the pizza place directly across the street.)
The hotel itself is lovely. The staff is helpful. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
Only 3 minor issues come to mind: When asking staff at the desk directions, the "just out the door to the left" turned out to be 9 blocks. They underestimated distances several times. If giving a presentation in the upstairs ballroom, be aware that the screen at the front of the room is so low that those seated in the back of the room will not be able to see the lower half. And, for women travelers, the mirror over the sink area is dim, with no additional mirror for make-up application, something that was unexpected in a hotel of this caliber.
All in all, our experience here was great. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

I go to Naples several times a month on business and stay at the Inn on Fifth. I was and remain pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel is, great location in the heart of downtown and nice comfortable rooms. It could use a couple of adjustments. First, and foremost, while the staff is nice they could use some training. Basic training that one's parents would give a child in the 60's about standing up when a customer approaches the desk, having the valet / doorman get off the stool in the front instead of daydreaming, stupid little things like that. Clearly, management has not run the staff through a training course on hotel courtesy. Second, the bright yellow walls ruin the decor. It is like being in an ICU. It clearly just got a work over and the bathroom tile is nice and earthy but the hallways look like they belong in New Orleans.
Lastly, don't expect to get fed after 9 pm but unfortunately the whole town shuts down at 9.

My huband and I stayed here in 2008 and loved it . This time we went with family and had three rooms. It was even more beautiful this time ( 9th & 10th Dec.) as it had the most impressive Christmas tree and decorations as you entered. You can easily walk to beach and being in the town lots to see.We had two young grandchildren with us and the park opposite was a bonus. The only complaint was my sons room was over The Irish bar and it was rather noisy until very late but saying that it was a weekend. We would certainly go and stay here again
