“great way to spend the morning!”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

The race started before dawn [0700] and was a flat course. It was easy to get registered and there was close-by free parking. The scenery was super. Running past the most amazing area of banyan trees, gorgeous homes with spectacular landscaping was great especially for this northerner in this tropical paradise. The race folks were well organized with multiple water-stops staffed by attentive volunteers. Excellent traffic control. After race food was ok...how about a beer truck next time? Will try to come back and run this one again!

“Naples, Florida”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

Wanted a new destination that was warm and affordable, so I traveled to Naples in March. Flew into Fort Myers on an affordable non-stop flight. Rented a car and drove to Naples. It was an easy drive and fairly direct. Stayed at a small and pleasant European-style hotel.

While Naples was indeed warm and pleasant, it is the land of the affluent. (A sunset tour actually exposed a land of decadence.) Don't look for many deals here. The restaurants are expensive and only one seemed to care about vegetarians (reviewed separately).

While it was a new experience, Naples is not on the list of places to visit again.

“Great Gulfcoast Experience”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

This is the third year that my husband and I vacationed in Naples, Florida. We expecially like the older part of the city, where everything is easily accesible by walking.

Great restaurants, wonderful shops and a live theater are all just a short walk away. If you're a baseball fan, it's a short drive to experience spring training--great outdoor baseball in the warm Florida sunshine.

Of course the main attraction is the beautiful gulf shore. Take a walk on the beach, view a breathtaking sunset, hunt for shells, or simply sit in the sun. The historic Naples Pier is also a place that one shouldn't miss.

We are looking forward to our next vacation to Florida's sunny, gulf coast.

“Beautiful Naples”
Reviewed 16 February 2011

First time in Naples and we LOVED IT!! We stayed at Marbella Lakes home (a gated community) for 3 days/2 nights and fell in love with the area, (about 4 miles to beach). We went in May and the temperature was very warm and quite stormy. The beach was beautiful, white sand, blue water and many shells. You must see Tin City while in Naples. Cute little shopping area with local restaurants and quaint shops. Walked the main strip in downtown Naples and ate at Tommy Bahama's. The food there is always good! Also if you're up for a little drive, go to Marco Island for the day. Very upscale island with beautiful beaches and houses as well. If you like collecting sea shells this is the place to go!
Overall, we are definitely going back!

Naples in December is like Spring in Boston. You have pleasant cool and sometimes very warm days. The great thing about Naples is that one day you can go thrift shopping, the next to their wonderful zoo and then the next to the white sand beaches. I enjoy window shopping in Old Naples and then eating at one of their many resturants. There is a wonderful vintage retail store tucked away behind a candy/ice cream shop that I always visit.

Naples is not Miami-it is meant to be enjoyed slow and easy. Take your time getting to know both sides of Naples, it is worth it.
