“Very good BBQ”
Reviewed 8 July 2013 via mobile

Very good BBQ and large sandwiches. Not a place to eat in and enjoy. Take it with you and enjoy! Put the slaw on the Q.

“Nothin' Fancy, but Tasty”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

Dirt Road Cookers is housed in a former Chevron quick-stop gas and convenience store and boasts only a couple of tables in the corner, so don't expect much ambience if you want to dine in. The food, however, is pretty darn good; and portions are definitely manly. We got two Combo Plates ($12.50) with ribs and pulled pork as the two meats, and baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad as sides, all accompanied by a thick slice of good old white bread. Each styrofoam box weighed right on 2 pounds, with a half pound each of ribs and pulled pork. Ribs were tender and well-seasoned; pulled pork was as good as we've had. Coleslaw was nicely crunchy and not swimming in dressing; potato salad was very rich - tastes like a lot of sour cream in the dressing. Baked beans, however, were not to our taste - looked like ground beef in 'em. The "stew" was tasty, with a bit of a bite - accompanied by surprisingly spicy saltines (maybe hit with a combination of butter and hot sauce, then baked?) We didn't like the house BBQ sauce at all, but that's what makes horse races. We'll go again.

“Old School BBQ done right”
Reviewed 1 March 2013

The wood fired cooker out front is a dead giveaway that these folks don't play at BBQ. The full, fresh chine-on spare ribs were served with a dry rub - outstanding. The pulled pork sandwich served with homemade coleslaw - also outstanding. The Dirt Road Stew nothing short of outrageous! Prices are right and the folks friendly. It doesn't get any better.

“Don't let the location fool you; best BBQ in the area.”
Reviewed 18 January 2013

Pulled up to Dirt Road Cookers and was confused as it is a small convenience store. Walked in and there were only 3 tables in the middle of the store. Ordered a sampler plate (rib, brisket, pulled pork with sides of beans, potato salad and cole slaw) and a spicy sausage sandwich as well as a cup of their stew. Absolutely blown away! The stew was fabulous. Spicy and full of meat and vegetables and served with spicy saltines. The rest of the meal was some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Nice thick slices of beef brisket perfectly smoked and tender. The ribs and pork and sausage were all excellent as well. The beans were fabulous. DRC's also has take out which we will definitely take advantage of in the future. If I hadn't had a Groupon, I NEVER would have stopped here. I am so glad I did. Try it, you'll love it.
