Frustrated by zero parking on a beautiful Saturday June evening at the beach we decided to take advantage of the free valet parking and try the restaurant. We choose to sample four of their appetizers instead of ordering full meals. The appetizers were delicious, well executed and conceived. We will return.

Just a quick walk from my hotel and I was drawn in by the trigger fish special which was excellent .

Some great varied options on the menu from wood fired pizzas to elk ragu. The fish was great and the wine list was good with excellent pours.

Very attentive service.

If you have ever dined at Mezza Luna, you'll know the place as a typical Italian restaurant. Well, they've changes things around a bit. Still offering pizza and pasta, the place is more contemporary American fare than Italian. They have also changed the name from Mezza Luna to Mezza Restaurant and Bar.

If you've never been, this is one of several worthwhile dining spots in Neptune Beach, just a block from the sand in this small but bustling shopping and entertainment oriented neighborhood.

Take a look at the menu and decide for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

My companions and I visited Mezza Luna for a light meal, drinks, and to enjoy a local band. Goals accomplished: everything was a delight.

I ordered a grapefruit and basil martini, which I've dreamed of ever since. So refreshing and yummy! One of my companions made her choice from an extensive and thoughtful wine list.

The appetizer menu was perfect for the desired "light meal." My choice was the Roasted Root Vegetable Salad (mixed greens served with butter and sea salt hazelnuts, and shaved parmesan), while my companions chose Beet Salad (beets and greens with blood oranges, goat cheese, and toasted pumpkin seeds) and Steamed Mussels (topped with garlic and parsley puree). All three proved to be excellent choices.

The evening's entertainment was provided by Gypsies Ginger, a duo of skilled musicians who play fresh and sometimes humorous takes on cover songs, along with a few originals. Their music was played at the perfect volume, meaning that if you want to listen you'll hear every word, and if you want to converse you won't have to shout.

Although Mezza Luna is a bit pricey, it was a terrific evening out, and I'd definitely go again.

(Note: though there's pizza on the menu, I would not recommend this as a family place.)
