My husband and I just wanted to get away for the weekend. We decided to stay at the Magnuson. Looked it up on line, the rooms looked great, nice pool and hot tub. We got here and nothing looks like it did online.
The rooms are not that great, the pool has the wrong type of steps(could be very dangerous), the hot tub looks like a kiddie pool. They also did not mention that the attached bar/ restaurant was closed for renovation til we got here.
Definitely NOT coming back to this hotel.

Dear valued guest,
We thank you very much for staying with us and we are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The restaurant is closed since about ten days and the renovation will take about two months, but then everything will be so much nicer and including a beautiful new deck with outside seating an new TIKI bar. At the same time improvements around the pool will take place. The small pool is not a hot tub, it is a kiddy pool. My manager Zack already contacted you and we do hope you will give us another chance. Please do contact Zack directly to make your reservation, so we can specially take care of you.
Kindest regards

I had a great stay at Magnuson hotel. The staff was great and very helpful. They were so friendly and very accommodating to my needs. Our room was very clean with a great view of the marina. The rate was reasonable and they had canoe and boats rentals next door which were extremely fun. The hotel was in a convent location just minutes away from a shopping center and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely would stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a water view.

Dear valued customer,

thank you very much for staying with us and for posting one review on trip advisor.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and that you had a lot of fun with your canoe trip. New Port Richey has much more to offer than many travelers think. Besides multiple small sandy beaches, we do have now as well beach shuttles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to the island and sandbar, with beautiful sandy beaches. Besides, as you experienced yourself, it is wonderful and a lot of fun to explore the nature coast by renting one canoe or pontoon boat right onsite, other may book one of the guided eco tours. I hope you will stay with us again and explore more of the activities our location has to offer.
Kindest regards

Seems to be an older hotel, with some improvements made. We stayed here when it was the Ramada, as we booked our stay through Wyndham Rewards. We stayed for about a week in March, as we attend Spring Training baseball games in Florida every year. This was a new hotel for us, as we never we stayed in New Port Richey before. But we do stay in different locations on the Gulf side of Florida.

We liked the location, as the hotel was located on Route 19, a major state highway in Florida. There are several stores across the street, and a Publix supermarket. The hotel is also located on a harbor, which is very scenic. You can also rent a variety of type of boats, kayaks, and pontoons at the harbor.

The pool area was ok, as there is a small pool for children and a large adult sized pool. There were plenty of chairs to use on the pool deck also. The deck definitely needs a good updating, so some new wood and a new painting are in order. When this is done, I am sure it will be very attractive to new customers.

The rooms were ok and clean. I think the rooms also had a microfridge and microwave in there. We did not locate any bed bugs, so that was a plus. The rooms were very affordable, as we paid around $300 for six nights altogether.

It seems like the hotel is making improvements, and will become an attractive place to stay. It is definitely a reasonable place to stay for a few days if a college student, or someone who needs to save a few dollars instead of staying at a premium hotel.

My only major recommendation is the breakfast was pretty lousy. They had scrambled eggs, toast, english muffins, bananas, apples, and a couple of cereals. The only good item to eat were the two types of orange slices. Last but not least, do NOT drink the "orange juice" or the "apple juice." It will disappoint you. I don't know what it is, but it's definitely not fresh. The orange juice tasted like some powdered mix. Same goes for the apple juice. When I checked out, I told the front desk about this. I advised her to try the juice, and see how awful it really tastes.

All in all, it is a great location, being next to Route 19, and just a few minutes down the road from Tarpon Springs. I would stay here again next year, even if its not a Wyndham Rewards property anymore. I just hope they have some fresh orange juice next time!

I stay at hotels up to 30 days a year, so I know what to expect. Please see any of my previous reviews as proof of such.

Room Tip: Obviously ask for a harbor view, if possible. Not sure if its more expensive, but it is a nice view...

Dear valued customer,
Thank you for choosing Magnuson Hotel and for taking the time to post this review. We are constantly trying to make improvements on the property to give our customers the experience they expect from a mid-scale hotel. The moment we are upgrading a substantial number of rooms in the original exterior corridor building, our next project is some improvements on the pool deck area. I hope at your next visit you will be able notice all these improvements.
I sincerely apologize for the bad experience, you had with the breakfast. There will be some major changes in the restaurant area and in particular the continental breakfast buffet will improve in presentation and quality. The breakfast was not in our control, as it was supplied by the previous restaurant owner, who did not really care. The legal system finally worked and made him vacate the property.
Once again thank you for staying with us and we do hope that we will be able to welcome you again in future.
Kindest regards

We just returned from the Magnuson Hotel and we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive; and the room was big and clean. Must have been one of the renovated rooms because the carpet and draperies looked new. Being from South Florida, Im accustomed to the tiny cottage rooms in the Keys. This room was twice the size, smelled scrumptious when we walked in, had separate dressing room and white (not yellowing) towels and sheets. I loved that it was fresh and clean. We had a double room, the bed was big enough for my husband and me with tons of pillows. The free breakfast was adequate for us. They had eggs,(don't eat meat), cereal, toast, english muffins, juice, yogurt, coffee, tea. No, its not 4 or 5 star, but more than we expected for $55.00 a night. The ideal location for those who love the water and shopping. We had a water-view room and the hotel is located in walking distance to the mall, stores, and fast food, restaurants, etc. I have no complaints, other than they ran out of towels when we needed more. Loved it, and we will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: The waterview rooms (not close to pool) is a little more expensive by $10.00, but worth the view.

Dear valued customer,
Thank you for choosing Magnuson hotel and for taking the time to post this review on trip advisor. Most of our customers are satisfied with their stay, but unfortunately it is very difficult to motivate them to write one review, however guests that are unhappy in general post reviews immediately. Once again thank you for taking the time.
I apologize for the waiting of the towels, we got one additional delivery this week, so hopefully there will be no more shortage and waiting time. We are looking forward of welcoming you again.

My husband and I just wanted a couple days away. We have stayed here in the past and we have always enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We try to have our weekend getaways at least once a month and will continue to stay here! Thank you!

Room Tip: Rooms with the marina view are much quieter than the city view.

Rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. My one night was $56 which included tax. There a bar that serves food connected to the front office that has live bands on the weekend. I would def stay here again.
