“Will stay again”
Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

Mom and daughter decided to stay last minute and chose the hotel because of it's location on us19. We checked in late and the lobby had some "questionable" visitors but the front desk agent was extremely friendly and professional. The room was inviting, unfortunately the toilet handle was broken but we worked around that. I enjoyed the amazing swimming pool, i just love that its 9 feet deep. I wish there were more ice makers but i understand improvements are being made. Finally, we loved the view so much that we decided to stay a second night and the management gave us a discount on the room! We will be back for sure.

We stayed due to a scheduled boat trip and wanted to be close to the marina. Hotel was clean and the price was great. Hotel could use some work. They have a tiki bar not in use. As well as a dining room that is under renovations. Would have been nice to have lunch in the dining room before our boat trip since we had kids to feed. Has alot of potential with all of the traffic from the marina. Would stay again if the price is right.

Room Tip: Bring your own pillows. View facing the marina was nice in the evening.

Magnuson is not a luxury hotel, but the price is very reasonable - a great value for what we paid. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good and the location is excellent. We enjoyed watching the boats and had a lot of fun in the pool and on the boat trip to the island and its beach. All employees were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Our room was clean and very comfortable.

This is a hotel that is under renovation, but judging by what I saw there i would not hold my breath regarding the result. Firstly, the area is really not the greatest; when you see a pawn shop on every other corner you know you are on the wrong side of town. (Hard to judge that until you get there.) There is a marina, and you can rent some sort of a watercraft, but you can do that just about anywhere you go in Florida. There is a Publix and a laundry nearby: in that sense its convenient. Hwy 19 on which the property is located is a semi industrial main drag, with all the charm of say, downtown Detroit, with marginally less blight. As for the place itself, i rented a room which was newly renovated and had a "de luxe" label. Let me begin with the lobby - the main desk area looks like a high school boiler-room from the sixties. I guess they might redo that at some point. My "de luxe" room was freshly renovated, and yet looked very dated. There was granite in the bathroom, but not a single straight line there - very badly done. The carpet looked old, even if it was freshly laid, and some of the furniture was so ancient it looked like it was made around the time of Mongol invasion. The chair was sat in by whole the Mongol horde I think. The lamp had no switch and fell apart when you touched it. So you renovate a room and stick really old appliances in? Schizophrenic. My advice, pay a few bucks more, head about 20 minutes further south and you wont regret wasting your time in this place. I shudder to think what the un-renovated rooms look like. Yikes!

Dear guest,
I am sorry that you were disappointed by the city, the area, the location and the hotel. There is probably nothing we could have done to make you enjoy your stay. Yes, you would have been better served to stay in Clearwater Beach, Naples or Miami Beach; this might have met your expectations, naturally as well with at least double of the cost of the room.
New Port Richey is a small City. If visitors are taking some time, they will discover a lot of interesting and charming activities if they really explore Florida’s Nature coast. Friends of ecotourism will be extremely happy. New Port Richey is not a tourist hot spot, but thankfully the Tourist development board started some activities, including one nice beach, which will soon bring more tourists to the area,.
Our pictures are not misleading, the ones from our location were taken at the location and the ones from the rooms were taken from our rooms. When we converted one building into interior corridor, we tried to make these rooms as good as possible, which included to put not just granite countertops but as well granite walls in the bathrooms. It was one huge expense for us, walls, bathroom, plumbing, carpet furniture everything is new. I did not notice if the connection of the granite panels was an absolutely straight line, I am not a contractor nor a construction expert. We do not claim to be a five star hotel but a decent midscale hotel with a nice location and affordable rates.
As we were not able to identify in which room you stayed, we are going to check all rooms, if there is a knob on one of the light switches missing it will be replaced.
Sincerely

My husband and I just wanted to get away for the weekend. We decided to stay at the Magnuson. Looked it up on line, the rooms looked great, nice pool and hot tub. We got here and nothing looks like it did online.
The rooms are not that great, the pool has the wrong type of steps(could be very dangerous), the hot tub looks like a kiddie pool. They also did not mention that the attached bar/ restaurant was closed for renovation til we got here.
Definitely NOT coming back to this hotel.

Dear valued guest,
We thank you very much for staying with us and we are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The restaurant is closed since about ten days and the renovation will take about two months, but then everything will be so much nicer and including a beautiful new deck with outside seating an new TIKI bar. At the same time improvements around the pool will take place. The small pool is not a hot tub, it is a kiddy pool. My manager Zack already contacted you and we do hope you will give us another chance. Please do contact Zack directly to make your reservation, so we can specially take care of you.
Kindest regards

I had a great stay at Magnuson hotel. The staff was great and very helpful. They were so friendly and very accommodating to my needs. Our room was very clean with a great view of the marina. The rate was reasonable and they had canoe and boats rentals next door which were extremely fun. The hotel was in a convent location just minutes away from a shopping center and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely would stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a water view.

Dear valued customer,

thank you very much for staying with us and for posting one review on trip advisor.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and that you had a lot of fun with your canoe trip. New Port Richey has much more to offer than many travelers think. Besides multiple small sandy beaches, we do have now as well beach shuttles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to the island and sandbar, with beautiful sandy beaches. Besides, as you experienced yourself, it is wonderful and a lot of fun to explore the nature coast by renting one canoe or pontoon boat right onsite, other may book one of the guided eco tours. I hope you will stay with us again and explore more of the activities our location has to offer.
Kindest regards
