Our hosts were wonderful. They made us feel special as my brother and I were celebrating our birthday with our families. The other guest were a delight to spend time with. A great place to relax. The breakfast was superb.

Walking distance to the intracoastal and a very short drive to the beach. Just far enough away from all the tourist traps to really relax and enjoy some peace and quiet in the historic part of town. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet and the innkeepers are exceptionally helpful. Don't miss this one!

I can't say enough about how wonderful this property is. The rooms are ecclectic and charming, as is the propetier. The breakfast was gourmet, a delicious breakfast casserole with eggs, hashbrowns and apples, a fruit salad and a basket of freshbaked rolls and muffins. The owner and his wife are very knowledgeable about the area and quite friendly. They made us feel at home the moment we arrived. Each room has a small refrigerator stocked with drinks. I want to go back again and again. The price is incredibly reasonable for all that you receive. You won't regret booking your stay at the Long Board Inn!

Our last-minute search for weekend accommodations in New Smyrna Beach produced a real gem less than two miles from the beach. We had already decided that paying a small fortune for a room looking out at us down on the beach was somewhat wasteful, and when we located the Longboard Inn in the historic district, we felt we had made the right decision.

Longboard is in a quiet neighborhood typical of one of those old parts of town in the midst of a renaissance. It is a restored home, perhaps 80 years old, and is full of antiques and surfing memorabilia. It's within walking distance of a couple of great eateries in a similarly situated small commercial district undergoing a significant revival. The rooms are well appointed, cheerful, comfortable, and fully supplied with everything the visitor needs, including complimentary beverages in the small refrigerator, beach towels, mints on the pillows, iron, blow dryer, etc., etc.

Best of all are the proprietors, John and Dee, who are ready to share complete information about the area--not to mention the marvelous breakfasts served by Dee each morning. We tried three of the several restaurants they recommended, and found the food and service outstanding at each. The tapas at Romesco's, two blocks away, were out of this world. And the soup and sandwich combinations down the street at Maloney's--wow! Then for a little dressier evening meal, Scott's Bluewater Grill down near the ocean (in a strip shopping center), with its Italian-influenced dishes from the sea, just couldn't be beaten. We can't wait to go back to try the other places John recommended.

If you're looking for a laid-back beach community, with plenty of beach access and a miles-long, nearly-deserted national seashore, without the honky-tonk of Daytona, we highly recommend New Smyrna Beach. And don't tell anyone about Longboard--we want to keep it available for our next visit!
