“Nice location”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

It's a nice building in a nice location. We saw manatees right outside by the boats. Our service was poor though (server would leave us for 45 minutes at a time and never checked to see if we needed refills or had everything we needed etc). He also didn't know much about the menu or wines. There was live music which wasn't too loud and added some ambience. There was no soap in the restroom, and an employee told me that they hadn't had any for a couple of days even though they'd asked for more (hope they had some in the kitchen at least). Food was pretty good but very overpriced. We enjoyed eating outside, but our bill (once we were finally able to get it) had us overcharged so I recommend checking yours.

“Focusing on the wrong things”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

Extremely overpriced; fancy presentation of mediocre food; great views. This place clearly operates on the "we're a resort so let's rip off our captive audience" principle.

“Pricey - Careful with groups”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Ate here with a group 2 times. Their system cant split checks more than 4 ways. It took almost 45 min to get the bill one night while they tried to figure it out. Food good but they need to consider the pricing structure. Not sure this resort needs a place with a $40 steak or not.

“Dismayingly awful and exorbitant.”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

Shockingly bad for the price: really bad food (details below), unbelievable waits, outrageous cost (plan on $60 per adult easily).
We went three times (captive on Captiva). We are not difficult guests in general, but our experiences here involved the manager all three visits (though on the third he couldn't be located). The long waits for food are self-explanatory (though in particular on the third visit the wait was baffling, considering that the restaurant was 2/3 empty).
Then, the food, to summarize:
Portions: tiny. I should have taken a photo of the $40 (no joke) grouper. You'd cry.
Mussels: undercooked. Yes, they opened, but barely, and were cold, which brings me to:
Cold food. On the third attempt at eating we sent back several plates and gave up. REALLY COLD.
The famous $18 burger: no flavor, overcooked (medium???) served with mealy fries...ALL COLD.
Caesar salad: oddly, half was dressed (overly), and half not. It's lettuce on a plate for $12. Dress it!
Fried calamari: soggy, unsalted, greasy, and essentially large clumps of underfried batter clinging to tentacles. There were drops of grease on the table from serving it with a spoon. Not a good sign.
The steaks: overcooked, tough, and unseasoned. For $38?????????
This place really needs to get its act together. I can't believe that more people aren't horrified by the price/quality ratio. Just appalling by any standard. What a shame that this has had a significant impact on our impression of the resort as a whole, though it is clear that the problem lies not only (or likely not even mostly) within the restaurant. There is an institutional policy of low-quality high-cost across the board, and for some reason they seem to get away with it. Wake up, people, there are beaches elsewhere!

“Slow service; very weak drinks”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

Even in spite of freezing to death (turn down the A/C!), we wanted to like Harbourside. We've been there several times in the past year, and this year the restaurant didn't live up to the experience we've had in the past.

Very weak mixed drinks---we felt ripped off. This happened several times, so we switched to wine and beer and were pleased. Limited menu, but salads were very good. Watery conch chowder disappointed.

This place can be better! We're hoping to try it again in April. Fingers crossed for some changes!
