My family and I have made South Seas Island Resort a must stay for the past 17 years. It is peaceful, relaxing and a touch of paradise. If you like golf, fishing and water sports, there is no better place in the state of Florida.

We stayed for a weekend for our anniversary at a bayside water view room, we loved the view from our balcony to the sea a mere 12 yards away. The location is an island paradise, the facilities are flawless, and the staff is very amicable and accommodating.
The only minuses were no breakfast room service and the main restaurant was closed for renovations.

Congratulations and thank you for celebrating with us. The Harbourside Bar & Grill renovations are complete now and I hope that your travels bring you back to Sanibel, Captiva, and South Seas island Resort.

This was our first trip to South Seas and we were thrilled with all that they had to offer. Stayed in a Beach Villa, which was at the quieter South end of the resort. Good ammenities on that end, but all of the main activity was at the North end of the resort - a short trolley ride away. We were celebrating our wedding anniverary (sans children) and enjoyed the quiet of the South end. Would definitely recommend those travelling with kids to stay at the North end narest the pools and activities. Plenty of activities to choose from - we enjoyed beaches, Sunset Beach bar, waverunner rental, dolphin and manatee watching in the marina, guided fishing, shell collecting and pools. Prices for rentals and activities were very reasonable and equivalent to other SW FL locations. Staff were all very friendly and polite and made you feel welcome wherever you went. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Captiva!

Room Tip: South end is quieter. If you are in a villa, buy grocery items BEFORE you get to the Sanibel bridge...

Congratulations on your recent anniversary. Thank you for choosing South Seas as your getaway retreat. The fall is a wonderful time to come to Captiva to celebrate anniversaries and honeymoons since the kids are back in school and the weather is so nice (warm, but not too hot). We hope that you will come back with the whole family or see you next year for your anniversary.

All the best,

We may never go to the Keys again! Superb accommodations, so much to do, beautiful beaches, fun, relaxing for the entire family.
We have already booked a return trip and plan to go again and again. A gem of a spot!

My fiance and I have looked at tons of places to get married, and after doing a quick site tour we decided to stay over for a night to get the full experience. We were very impressed! The subtle elegance of the resort is what I liked the most. I feel like many resorts turn out to be ostentatious, but South Seas has kept to the Captiva lifestyle and really done a great job at keeping with the theme. We stayed at a waterside room and had the most incredible views from our balcony. They added a great touch to give us a bottle of wine and chocolates to celebrate our stay and out of all the places we have stayed and looked at, we really felt like they cared we were thinking about spending the most important day of our lives with them. I loved how open and spread out the resort was, but it was also a quick and pretty walk to the pool, the docks and to the beach. It really has a little bit of everything you could want, but without the crazy tourism that we can't stand over in our area in Tampa Bay. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with the island lifestyle, this is a great place to be.

We have vacationed at South Seas for the past 27 years. it is a fabulous resort with wonderful family memories, but each year it loses something....getting more "corporate, commercial" This year the $17 a day amenities fee per person seems to be discouraging people from using the facilities. there was no one in scoops and slices. The trolley was empty...why would a resort charge a fee to have the privilege of eating in their restaurants, Harborside, the main one was closed! and whose brilliant idea was it to make guests wear a plastic hospital band to be able to use the facilities? i hope the management considers its guests and gets back to the quality resort it once was!

I have been coming here for years as has my family. Since new managers have taken over, the changes have been for the worse. Simple items like soap and toilet paper in the bathrooms have been replaced with bargain basement alternatives (like sandpaper!). Key restaurants, like Harborside, are closed. Prices for food and drinks are higher - Breakfast for two people cost $75.00 as a Bloody Mary in a tiny plastic cup filled with ice costs $10.00 (and drinks in plastic cups are low budget). Lastly, the new wristband system is ridiculous. I cannot believe at a place like South Seas their new policy is making adults wear plastic wristbands. I have been on cruise lines with more class. New management is making poor decisions and it cheapens the experience here. No class in this poorly thought out decision. By the way, the staff complains about new management as well and it shows in their apathy. The service was the worst it has been in ten years.

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your feedback. I am disappointed to read that this visit did not live up to your expectations and I appreciate the opportunity to address comments.

The management and brand specifications of South Seas' in-room amenities and resort programs have remained constant since the resort's reopening in 2006, and our guests and members welcome our commitment to creating fun and enriching programs and amenities.
The closing of Harbourside Bar & Grill is only temporary, as it was due for a renovation, both front and back of house, and should reopen within the next week. In the meantime The Pointe, located within the Resort Pool Complex, North Pointe, is serving the same breakfast and dinner as Harbourside offers, while continuing to offer its traditional lunch service. The opening of Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille has been a wonderful addition to the dining options at South Seas for both Captiva visitors and residents. With its two bars, outdoor seating, live entertainment, and Caribbean-infused menu, Doc Ford's is dedicated to revitalizing the space that was once Chadwick's restaurant.

The new wristband procedure is an initiative derived from the feedback of our guests. Guests told us they did not like having to keep keys/charge cards for all members of their party in order to gain access to the resort amenities like the pool complex, beach equipment, and trolleys. The matter of convenience is addressed as now instead of digging through your pockets/purse to find keys for the entire group, a quick flash of the wrist will identify guests that are eligible to utilize the amenities they enjoy so much, while also controlling who has the ability to charge items to their room. I'll never forget the day a mother brought her son to the reception office to discuss the $30 worth of candy he purchased at Scoops & Slices. And finally, with the feedback from our guests, we will address any opportunities that arise with this new system.

In closing, again I thank you for returning to Captiva and I trust your next visit will provide an experience above and beyond your expectations. If you would like to discuss further, I am happy to do so.

With warm regards,
Anthonia Smith
