“Amazing Resort!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We went to Captiva for a friends and family vacation and South Seas was so much more than we could have dreamed of!
The staff we're so friendly and helpful and the rooms were amazing. The kids loved the pool with the two slides and we all enjoyed the ice-cream shop!
It was a wonderful vacation and we can't wait to go back.

We have been there twice in the past month because we just can't stay away. The resort is beautiful, the staff is intuitive, attentive and friendly, the rooms are lovely, and the views -- oh, the views! We had a pool cabana which made our trip even more special. There's so much to do, a couple of days simply isn't enough. Give yourself a good week if not longer. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Try to get a west facing room so you're close to the beach and the sunset. Either way, you can...

My family and I just enjoyed four fabulous days at South Seas and I just wish we could've stayed longer! The food was exceptional, the accommodations just perfect and the property was everything we hoped it would be. We can't wait to go back!

We have been to many high end hotels and were looking forward to staying on Captiva which was new for us. The island is lively--artsy and low key. The hotel however is very spread apart and what is called a villa or bungalow is a railroad style condo--long and narrow with windows at the front and back but not in the middle so they are dark. There is a lot for kids to do but when they are resting, the rooms leave much to be desired. We stayed at the Marina end of the property where it was walking distance to a series of pool equipped with slides and restaurants. Good for kids under 10. We also had a fine buffet each morning on the property and the service was good. So it comes back to the rooms...they have no carpet but tile, are dark, and devoid of any personality. We will not stay there again.

Spent 6 days in Captiva and enjoyed it all--only after we got switched to another beach villa. I had booked this vacation stay back in Feb and our expectations were very high. When we arrived, however, the 2 br beach villa did not live up to those expectations. There were stains on the couch, chairs and bedding duvet. The sheets were so starched they were like cardboard, the baseboards were dusty, and a few other minor things that added up to us not wanting to stay in that room for the next several days. The next morning we went to the front desk where Isaac listened to our complaints and offered to find us other accommodations. After a couple of hours, he called and we were taken to the North end of the island (Lands End) where we ended up staying for the remainder of our trip. Much nicer rooms, bigger and cleaner. We were traveling with 2 kids (ages 12 and 10) and the room was ideally located for us. It was closer to the pools, the sunset beach, fishing, kayaking and everything else. We rented bikes and got around that way or took the trolley. Only drove our car one night out to dinner so that we wouldn't get bitten by the gnats waiting for the trolley (even though they had Skin So Soft available at the stop, it still didn't prevent us from getting bites all over our legs). The cons of the resort are the high prices of the food, but you'd get that anywhere on vacation. We were able to get to the Publix before we got onto Captiva, which saved us a few meals. They had grills all over the place, but get your meat/fish before you get there. In all, the north end of the island worked best for us and the accommodations were much nicer, although the furniture was a bit dated. The pool water was very warm, but it was in the 80s-90s when we were there. The views are incredible. The kids loved the Scoutabout program and it forced us to go all over to get their page punched and see everything. Abundant wildlife--fish, manatees, herons, ospreys and TONS of shells. Beautiful sunsets, too.

Room Tip: If traveling with kids, rent bikes and stay in the north end of the island--it's close to pools...

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. The Lands End villas are a great choice for a multi-bedroom condo on the north end - I'm glad you enjoyed it. We look forward to welcoming your family back to the resort village.

I was there for a working vacation. The place was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. I had a three bedroom condo that overlooked the bay. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. However, the internet was not very reliable. We were told they were working on it but it was never fixed. The only place it worked was in the kitchenette area, which made it very inconvenient, as I had to share the condo with two other people. I needed internet service for business reasons and it was very difficult. Otherwise the stay was superb and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't depend on the internet

The only thing keeping me from giving South Seas a 5 was the price of the food. Everything else was perfect. The grounds are beautiful. We had a harbor side room and watched the sunrise every morning plus the dolphins and the manatees. In the evening we would walk several hundred feet to the golf course side and watch the sunset on the beach. We visited during the second week of February and the weather was pleasant. Jackets needed in the evening. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
