Absolutely loved our stay at Tween Waters. It is a great location on Captiva Island and we had a beautiful gulf view from our screened in balcony. The Gulf is just across the road, no building between our room and the beach! Laundry facilities on site and cords to hang clothes to dry on balcony. Our room was very clean and quiet, even with the road next to us. We did not take advantage of the resort in the way most guests do. They offer a lot of marina services, tennis, pool and breakfast, that we just didn't do. They were conveniently located close to Sanibel Is. and the JN Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, where we spent a fair amount of time. If you aren't afraid to get knee deep in the water at low tide, the beach at Tween Waters offers good shelling. The sunsets are spectacular and not as crowded as other public beaches in the area. We tried to eat dinner on site a couple of times with no luck. On Crab Race nights at the Crow's Nest they close seating during the races, which is basically the dinner hour, and late night eating is not generally our style. There are other casual dining places a short drive away and a more fine dining option on the premises. Didn't find a room service option, would have appreciated that. The room was worth the cost - While they aren't sleek modern and contemporary, they are quite charming and we found we had room to spread out. We would definitely stay there again when in the area.

Room Tip: Second Floor facing the Gulf, if Gulf View Matters

‘Tween Waters is not 2014. If you want flash and trash, go to Miami Beach. In fact, if you like Miami, FTL, Boca, etc., you won't like Captiva Island. Other than the rumble of the occasional stink pot docking at the pier, ‘Tween Waters is a quiet respite. The walls between the rooms are solid so you won't hear your neighbors. Our door faced out towards the pool but we never heard the young ones’ shrieks of joy. The maid service is on top of keeping the room straight - unlike many places where you leave at 9AM, come back at 3PM, and your room still hasn't been made up. Walk across the street - not hard since the speed limit is 30 and people really stop for pedestrians - and you are at the Gulf. There is no refreshment service at the beach - so bring your own. There is a charge for a 'cabana' or for an umbrella and chairs. We wanted to relax and read - not have to drag furniture, so that was fine with us. The beach itself was clean of seaweed and garbage, and the water was clear. There will be dolphins within 50 feet of shore and shelling for those inclined. The restaurants, The Old Captiva House and The Crow’s Nest, were both quite respectable, and the free continental breakfast kept us from checking out other restaurants on the Island. You can hire a boat for fishing (Sanibelcaptiva.com) that leaves from the dock on the property. The location of ‘TW is great since there isn’t much beyond so you don’t have the traffic of Sanibel. That traffic is like being in a funeral cortege, a long one at that.

We had one issue the first night - the wireless internet service was too weak for our needs. That was taken care of the next morning.

If you want to cook for yourself, get the suites in the buildings “Coconut” or “Gumbo” (in that order.) Otherwise, the 3rd floor of “Palmetto.” Spend your time outside. Be lazy. Have a great time.

Tween Waters is not necessarily the most modern, elegant, or flashiest resort on the island, but it is very friendly with a fantastic location and a comfortable ambience. Our queen suite room was clean and spacious with a screened-in veranda providing a nice view of the bay. A few steps in either direction, and you are at the water's edge. In addition to the eating places on site, there are a number of good restaurants within moderate walking distance, or a short drive. Breakfast on the outdoor patio was a great way to start the day. Don't miss the crab races at the pub -- a unique and fun experience. We would definitely stay at TW again should we return to Sanibel/Captiva.

We loved our stay at 'tween the waters' resort. The grounds were beautiful, the scenery unbelievable, our one bedroom suite was very nice. The management provided everything we needed. The continental breakfast was outstanding. We enjoyed one dinner at the 'crows nest' and lunch poolside. The beach was spacious and uncrowded. A busy resort but when you entered your room, or walked the beach, the area seemed secluded. My only disappointment was the beach rentals that had many restrictions. Many boat trips to other islands were offered, as well as kayak and bike rentals

Have been visiting Tween Waters Inn for over 15 years. Great place! Extremely friendly service, family friendly, nice dining, great beach, who could ask for anything more. The gulf side has the best view of the beach and sunset and the sound of waves thru the night. However the intercostal side is where you catch the sunrise and the lapping of water on the boats moored there.
