A variety of activities natural and not abound amid a manageable sprawl of cottages and efficiency units seemingly set afloat upon a bed of spanking white crushed shells surrounded by greenery punctuated with exotic and native species of blooms. This home away from home staffed by a group of individuals who serve with cheer and grace, is situated between a pristine bay and sparkling ocean one shares with a delightful array of small shore birds, comical pelicans, reserved heron and cavorting Manitee . The sunrises and sunsets , alone, as seen and photographed from this place, deem it a paradise. Besides two wonderful clothing and gift shops, cafe on the pool, miles of ocean for shelling, strolling and surf casting and private dock for boaters there is kayak, standing pole boards, boat and bike rental. A four star restaurant, The Old Captiva House and casual eatery Crows Nest are on the premises serving breakfast, lunch and dinner where fresh fruits, breads and pastries are served every day. Nearby attractions include golfing, touring a preserve by bike, foot , car or tram and a 'far more than shells' shell museum. We will definitely return next year. Ask for Carol when you book! Gumbo Limbo way to go!

This was a girl's weekend. We have been to T'ween Waters in the past. The rooms are very spacious. The staff is extremely helpful! Can't say anything but good things there.

We did notice a few differences between our visit from two years ago and this visit in 2014. The jacuzzis were awful. They did not look clean and one was completely without jets. Overall, they did not look clean or inviting. That was disappointing because it is nice to come in off the beach, shower off, jump into the pool, and then relax in the hot tub.

The other thing that had changed was the lighting and the ambiance in the second informal restaurant, Crows Nest, I believe. I understand earlier in the day for family style eating, but after 8 or 9 pm, dim those lights! I felt like we were at Denny's. The activities with the crab races and the music would be more enjoyable in a more adult type of atmostphere. The gentleman with the crab races gets a little cheezy sometimes. Once is about enough of his stuff but it is fun overall. We were expecting a big deal for St. Patty's and that was a little bit disappointing.

We will be back because you can't beat the beach and we love our quiet girlfriend time. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

This March, my family traveled to Tween Waters Inn. It was very unique, hospitipal, charming, and laid back. The service was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to meet even the smallest of my needs. The pool area was spectacular, and great for all ages. The adults can swim, or lay around in the perfect weather, and the kids can play and splash in the awesome pool. There is snack and food available, and the adult drinks are a luxury, especially sitting with your friends at night in front of the calm beach. The cottages are adorable, and very relaxing. The condos are pleasantly surprising because of the comfort of the bed and pillows, and the bathrooms had nice amenities. This is a great place for fishing, swimming, vacation, relaxation, but if you like everything to be extremely clean, and aren't a people person, you might want to stay in the Waldorf Astoria instead. It is great for going and getting ice cream from the marina, and then going out on your boat. This Inn meets all the needs for Business, couples, friends, solo, and especially family. I had the time of my life here at Tween Waters, and do intend to come back.

Room Tip: The pool view are especially nice and great for kids because it is quick access to the pol

We recently stayed at Tween Waters for 3 nights. Made reservation by phone and agent was efficient. Only choice left for our dates was 2nd floor Gumbo Limbo...one bedroom suite with view of the sound. Tween is a fairly large complex with charming cottages mixed in between 3 story motel style buildings..connected by dirt roads with cars and golf carts speeding around. It is a busy place.
-Room was nicely furnished and had view of sound including the manatee gathering area. There were some maintenance issues in the room but nothing big enough to worry about for a short stay. Sheets were thread bare and mattress pad for sofa bed had some large stains. Room was comfortable. We did have a situation which has been reported to management where a housekeeper entered our room three times without knocking, announcing herself...just barged in..all this with a clearly placed "do not disturb" sign in place. There is simply no reasonable excuse for this.
-Pool and Marina areas. We did not realize in advance that Tweenie's (as the locals call it) sells day passes to people who come and dock their boats, park their cars and use the pool, beach and virtually all the facilities at the resort. We were there on a weekend (not spring break) and it was crazy. It was so crowded and rowdy that they had to call the Sheriff. The pool is very large and nice but unless I got out by 9am to take a swim it became too crowded to enjoy. The jacuzzi looks sort of like a black hole and I can't imagine getting in there. I believe it looks that way due to material it is made of but it looked gross!!
-Breakfast is buffet and it was excellent and way beyond continental. Lots of fresh fruit, pastries and breads and you could order hot items for a small extra charge. Nice pot of hot coffee on the table.
-Staff in general were helpful and welcoming. We did not have a car so we used their shuttle to get to the village. It is $2pp or $5 per trip and we never waited more than 4-5 minutes for service both going and coming. We found this very convenient. During the day you can walk along the beach to the village but at night the road is too dark and winding to walk. Golf carts are not permitted on that road to Tween.
-We experienced construction during our stay which was addressed with the manager and he offered to pay for dinner one night. It was pretty intense construction on a new line for wifi and we had no notice. Not expected during high season.
-In general Tween Waters was not what we hoped for considering we paid close to $400/night. I would recommend it to large extended families as you can put 6 people in the room and it may be cost effective. Pool is great for games and kids can run and scream everywhere..just that kind of place. If you are looking for calm and some sense of peace...not at Tween. We were not there during spring break and staff indicated it gets worse as spring breaks get going. We did enjoy the perfect weather, beautiful sunsets on the beach (across the highway) and early morning swims. The hotel felt more like a $150/night motel.
-Upon our return home I did contact the general manager, Mr. Babcock ,regarding my experiences including the lack of respect for privacy in the room, the day pass policy etc. He seemed interested and indicated they will be reviewing protocol with housekeeping and their day pass policy etc. but frankly they should be doing that all the time. The hotel was at 100% occupancy and they still sold day passes? I would not have stayed at the hotel if I had know of this policy and would not stay at Tween again.

Dear Gene,

Thank you for your detailed review of your stay at our resort. It was certainly a pleasure speaking with your during your stay and i was happy that we had the opportunity to address and correct many of the issues that you reported while you were staying with us. I would also like to thank you for sharing both what made you enjoyed as well as your challenges on Tripadvisor so that I may address them as well. As you have already pointed out your visit did occur during our peak season when we have a mix of children, teenagers, and adults on propert.y.

-We do offer day passes to vehicles however they are limited to anywhere from 0-5 and monitored closely. Our marina also allows boats to dock for the day, however where we sometimes experience our challenge is on our bayside beach where on busy weekends we do not allow boaters to pull up to it. On the weekend in particular that you mentioned several boats did and that is when the Sheriff was called to assist us.
-We are so glad that you enjoyed our complimentary breakfast buffet with our variety of fresh fruits. Did you now that all of our breads, muffins, and pastries are baked fresh in house? We are quite proud of it.
-Thank you for your compliments on our team as well. We take great pride in the way that our team has a natural love for people, and I agree our shuttle is a fantastic value add.
-I am happy that you enjoyed dinner. As I had explained during our conversation, we chose to do the work of digging the trench in the sand between 11 a.m and 3 pm, during the hours that most guests are enjoying our pool, beach, bikes, or kayaks. Thank you for understanding.

Our goal has always been and continues to be constant improvement in our service, amenities, and room product so I am sorry that you were disappointed in your stay. We do utilize comments such as these to help us in that mission. I do hope that you will return another time and if you do will contact me to assist you personally.

Sincerely,

John Lai

We just got back and really enjoyed our stay. We rented one of their cottages. Not only was the room and grounds very nice, the staff really goes out of the way to assist you whenever you ask them for something. They have lots of activities but we spent most of the time around the pool where you can get food and drink brought to your chair. The continental breakfast included fresh fruit, pastries and cereal however no hot food. You order hot food from a menu. What is nice is that the buffet is included when you order off the menu. We also had dinner at the Old Captiva House and it was great. There is transportation for $2/person if you want to eat at other restaurants close by. We certainly will go back. The "crab race" in the crows nest bar was a bit out there and service can be slow as a lot of people show up. Wifi and cell service is sometimes spotty and you may need to walk around the property to get logged on.

We travel with our small dog and found this resort to be both human and pet friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the bed and the pillows. Bathroom was updated and had some nice amenities. Walk to the pool, the beach or for a cocktail. Very good location to all that's happening on Captiva. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: We had a corner, end room. The windows along the side were great for a cross breeze and lots of lig...

Tween Waters is fabulous.... this is the third year we have had a gals getaway from the cold of the midwest to Tween Waters. We wanted a place where we can just kick back and everything we need is on one property. This is the place. We have stayed in Cottage 115 which is great, 3 bedroom great screened in porch and lots of room. The resort is casual and not stuffy. The beach is beautiful and the pool and bar/grill are great. We ate lunch there everyday with great fresh food with pricing that is not the usual resort rip off,,,, plus great island cocktails. We see many of the same staff year after year which means they like working there! The continental breakfast which is included has everything you need (tons of fresh fruit) and homemade pastries. We will back next year and the year after and the year after.
