“Doc Ford's on Captivia Island”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Went there w/husband & a friend. No reservation, so had to wait a Long time. But the food was very good. Had an entertainer in the back area of restaurant; and I saw kids & grandparents all 'getting down' to the music. Even saw a very elderly lady in restroom stomping/clapping her hands! Cute. Went back a 2nd time (w/a reservation this time) & enjoyed the food a lot. Disappointed there was no room in the bar - really packed. Just as well, as the noise level was an issue. Very happy to sit outside & eat.

“Great Drinks!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

after spending an exhausting day exploring sanibel and captiva islands, we were able to sit down for a relaxing and refreshing cocktail. we were pleasantly surprised at the value of the cocktails given the island location. they were very reasonably priced and strong.

we were greeted by the manager Julie and she was very polite and interested in our experience.

Doc ford's is a pleasant addition to the Captiva dining scene. we can't wait to come back and stay longer.

“Pretty good”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

I actually thought that the food here was good, and the others in my party did as well. We ate lunch outside. The service wasn't great, and the prices are way too high. That seems to be prevalent on Captiva as a whole though.

“Great drinks, so-so food”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

We came around 9:30 which might be why our food wasn't very good. I'd like to try it during their peak time to see if the food is different.

I ordered the kids burger and my husband ordered the tempura shrimp. My burger was very over cooked and the meat-to-bread ratio was very off. I think they put a kids patty on an adult bun. The fries were good.

My husband's shrimp was very very burned and very unsatisfying. Tempura is supposed to be "lightly fried." His were hard to cut into and almost black. We ordered the bean dip to fill him up. The bean dip was way over seasoned with cumin and was just a can of beans with some cheese, chopped tomatoes, and jalapenos on top - don't get it.

I wanted to give a 2-star rating, but gave 3 because we came at such a late hour. However, they charge the same amount for the food so you think it would be the same quality.
