“Mixed emotions”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We went to dinner while visiting Captiva. Main seating is outdoors but it can be tricky when its raining. Service was good. Server very helpful. I ordered a Caesar salad with blackened chicken and a cup of gumbo. The salad was great but the chicken was very dry. The gumbo was the best I've had in a long time.

“Excellent Meal on Captiva”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Visited Captiva Island April 12 to the 18th and had dinner every night at a different restaurant. Sunshine Seafood -Cafe and Wine Bar was by far the best restaurant for service and food. Upon arrival at the restaurant with a party of six the hostess informed us that we would have a short wait of about 15 minutes for a table. She was correct and we were promptly seated outside on the porch. The waitress gave our party a nice greeting, introduced herself and made our party feel very welcome. She gave us the menu and explained in detail the specials for the night. Each of the party members had a different appetizer and entree. Their Florida Seafood Gumbo , Fresh Red Snapper Picatta and numerous desserts were all excellent. . The wine and beer menu was varied and reasonably price. The opinion off our complete party was that this was their best restaurant experience and on the next trip to this island we all would go back to Sunshine Seafood Cafe.

“Could have sat on that porch for hours!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Simple lunch of seafood salad croissant and iced tea was very good, and what made the afternoon more special was the atmosphere of this café porch. We expected Captiva Island to be crazy in March, but it was incredibly peaceful and quiet on a midweek afternoon. Our server was friendly and efficient, and she patiently refilled our drinks as we kept sitting there long after we finished eating, just soaking in the ambiance and not wanting to leave! Definitely worth the ride from the insanity of Fort Myers Beach! Looking forward to a return visit in 2015.
(And a special thank-you to them for mailing back the credit card I accidentally left behind,)

“Good place for a meal”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

We stopped by mid afternoon for a late lunch. Limited menu selection for main courses which we found a bit disappointing. However, we opted to go with a couple of appetizers including the crab cAkes and the grilled shrimp. Both were quite good. The outdoor seating was also nice and the service excellent.

“Great service and cozy atmosphere”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

A local told us about this little restaurant on Captiva. We made 8 pm reservations so that we could first catch the amazing sunset at 7:50 and then head over. We had been fishing with Captain John Houston of Native Guides, and he called ahead to Sunshine to ask for the reservation, and for them to prepare the fish we had just caught that day. They did so, amazingly, and was such friendly and warm service. Even the other diners had a good vibe about them, and it felt like a special place to us.
