“Good food, friendly service”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Went in on a Tuesday night and it was quiet. When we arrived we were seated instantly and served water. The waiter was very polite and happy to serve, I had the Seabass special and it was fantastic. Overall the experience was brilliant and we will be back

Had a super dinner here on our last night in Captiva. Great service and good choice of fish on the menu.

“One of the worst meals ever!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

Not a lot of great choices in this town but went with the reviews because it sounded promising. Far from promising. The bread to start was tasteless. Ordered the scallop appetizer w/ goat cheese which was decent but way too much oil, nothing needs to sit in a bath of oil. The salads were good but how do you really mess up a salad? Grouper special for $32 was terrible! Grouper topped w/crabmeat & hollandaise sauce. The asparagus on top was the smallest skinniest most over-cooked asparagus I have ever seen, the crabmeat topping was fishy tasting & the fish was drenched in oil & butter as were the vegetables, I did order the sauce on the side thank goodness because it didn't taste like a traditional hollandaise. The serving size was on the small side but didn't matter because it wasn't good. The shrimp cocktail should have been key west pinks or something decent not the Vietnamese small tasteless shrimp that was served. The service was ok however our waiter didn't know when an appetizer is ordered & a salad, they are different courses & should be served as such, not served together. Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't know how to cook food & make it taste good without bathing everything in butter & oil. This place for us was a flop and expensive to boot for what you got!

“From appetizer to dessert, atmosphere to service, excellent.”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

Of the restaurants in Historic Captiva, it was here that I was most impressed by the food. I had to try the "Florida Gumbo" and their self proclaimed "World Famous" Sunshine Paella. Both were excellent. Tasty bread (and refills) were provided with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The Key Lime pie was the dense and tart kind I prefer. Service was outstanding. They make no apologies for their limited indoor seating with a view of the kitchen and restroom door - all of the atmosphere is in their expanded outdoor seating in a tropical setting. Sadly we took a visitor to the restaurant across the street, he would have preferred The Sunshine Seafood Cafe. We are definitely returning on our next visit to Captiva.

“Another fab couple of meals here”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

We visited in 2012 and made sure we came back whilst on holiday this year. It did not disappoint, Robin and nick were lovely hosts on each of our 3 visits this year. Yes it does cost more than other places and I just hope the prices don't increase as unfortunately we probably could perhaps only afford the one visit if this did happen. Food was excellent on all our visits and its just lovely sitting on the terrace outside. My son who is 13 said it was the best cooked fillet mignon he had throughout the holiday, cooked just to his liking, our compliments go to the chef, just fab.
