The bungalow is in a lovely location and looks good initially. However, there are a few things that let it down.
Although it caters for 4 people, the kitchen could be better equipped. It only has 2 saucepans plus a milk pan, which isn't really enough for 4 people if you're cooking a full meal. It could also do with additional cooking utensils and a tin opener that works. A step stool would also be useful to get things off the top shelf of the wall cupboards.
The washing machine is a nightmare. I had necessity to use it and managed to find a manual online. But the on/off button seems to be dodgy and I ended up sitting on the kitchen floor holding it in until the cycle ended as it wouldn't work unless I did. The drier part didn't work at all.
The sofa chairs aren't wholly comfortable especially if you're a larger person. Unfortunately the beds aren't much better. The mattresses are hard and you can feel the springs, I ended up with a bad back and not much sleep. Mattress toppers would help alleviate this and they aren't overly expensive.
Although ideally situated for fishing, on that part of the river the fishing is best later in the evening. Unfortunately the bungalow has no outside lights at the back, so unless you bring your own it's pitch black. It also needs some form of anti slip surface putting on the deck by the river, even if it's only just some chicken wire stapled on. I nearly ended up in the river a few times when putting fish back. I understand the owner is raising the garden area up so hopefully this will be considered then.
Also, mobile signal is virtually nil and you don't get any WiFi either. I didn't think the lack of WiFi would be a problem as I have Internet on my phone, but with almost no service it proved very difficult, especially when waiting for contact from the garage who were fixing my car. The electrics also don't appear to be PAT tested.
This could be an excellent little holiday home with just a little effort, but as it is I wouldn't consider going back.
